砖石砌筑既是古老的工艺又是具有前瞻性的工法,基于今日的技术,无论是材料性和砌筑方式皆有很大的进展。透 过力 (Force)与形 (Form)一体两面的力学与几何学之对应,纯受压结构(Compression-Only)可经济地围合富含 诗意的空间。本研究欲透过新颖的结构设计方法,展现高效的结构形式,让古老的砌筑有新的诠释,并且透过砌筑 模型来讨论数位可建构性与离散化建造模式。本研究先以文献研究法整理砌筑法 (Mansonry) 与切石术 (Stereotomy) 构筑发展,其涉及材料性质、图解静力学发展脉络与拱形态沿革。接着以物理关系式推导、动态松弛法 (DR) 、三 维网格分析法 (TNA) 三种形态找寻的方式个别建构数位砌筑的程序。最终以便宜易加工的材料置换真实砖石材料制 造五组砌筑模型,按照形态可分为斜肋构架、双曲抛物面与复杂曲面三种受压结构系统,透过砌筑模型讨论形态找 寻机制、砖体于曲面上的几何、假设工程减量设计以及机械手臂辅助放样与制造。 Brick masonry in architecture is not only an ancient form of craftsmanship but also a form of construction that has withstood the test of time. Corresponding mechanics with geometry (i.e. forces and forms), compression-only structures can enclose poetic spaces economically. Tremendous progress has been made in the materiality and modern architectural applications of bricklaying. This project aims to reinvigorate research in masonry by incorporating new structural design methods to improve efficiency of the structural form while also wishing to explore the possible implementations of digital and discrete assembly via brick masonry models. This project will further examine the development of masonry and stereotomy architectures through literature review, with emphasis on the evolution of material properties, graphic statics in developing context and the history of arch forms. After which, three separate digital masonry processing software will be derived using methodologies including physical derivatives, Dynamic Relaxation (DR) and Thrust Network (TNA) respectively. Finally, using materials that are affordable and easily processed, five sets of masonry models will be created and constructed utilizing three compression-only forms; these forms include the diagrid frame, hyperbolic paraboloid and multi-pressurize structure. Based on the above masonry models, this project seeks to discuss the form finding methodologies, analyze geometry of discrete elements, theorize more efficient falsework, and explore effects of robotic setting-out and fabrication.

本章复杂曲面结构砌筑建构逻辑分为三个部分 : 形态找寻、砖体单元制造和搭建曲面。形态找寻主要是依据 Thrust Network Analysis (TNA) (Block, 2009), 透过交互式参数设计插件 RhinoVAULTᶣ71$⸠〉ㄼ⫉㤝⃴ⶸ㢉 演算曲面结构的力平衡,接着经由 Grasshopper Python 生成壳体厚度。砖体单元制造分别为积层式制造 ( 加法制造 ) 和热熔丝切割 ( 减法制造 ),藉由数位制造工具生成不规则砖体单元。复杂曲面在完工之前是不稳定结构体,且特殊造型、非对称式结构很容易造成崩塌, 因此搭建顺序和假设工程抑是关键要点。

保丽龙砖体试验

Robotic Hot Wire Cutting Polystyrene

本次试验是以七块拱石(Voussoir)构筑成一组单拱(Arch),基于材料置换思维的延伸,每块拱石的材料是保丽龙,以机械手臂辅助制造。保丽龙热熔 丝切割和传统切石头工艺都是属于减法制造的加工方式,是将大块材料经由洗削或是切割慢慢去除不必要的块体。本试验将保丽龙比喻成石材,机械手臂 与热熔丝比拟成水刀,借着本次试验演绎机械手臂热熔丝加工制造砖体的程序。

这个夜灯是由 3D 打印机和切割机组成的。在开发过 程中,扭矩和材料膨胀是两个主要问题。

藉由这张椅子的设计探究真实材料、重量与数位制造 的关系,在过程中练习将三维模型拆分成可被制造的 二维模型,并最终将此设计实现出来,同时将误差控 制至最小。

This night lamp was formed by 3D-Printer and cutting machine. In the progress, the torque and the material expansion were two main issues.

本次工作营宗旨为讨论数位工具的发如何产生新的设计模式,在设计工作流程中结合不同的软件(Grasshopper, Maya 和 Aftereffect),利用各软件的优势制造更有趣的设计。 该项目包括四个部分: 1. 基本几何构造 2. 通过物理模拟进行找形 3. 利用刀具产生物理模型 4. 数据可视化和渲染。

The workshop anticipated to stimulate new model for digital design. Establishing a digital design workflow and integrating different software ( Grasshopper, Maya and Aftereffect ) are main target on this project. The project consists of four parts : 1. basic geometry construction 2. form-finding through physical simulation 3. utilizing cutter to produce physical model 4. data visualization and rendering.

Metal, especially aluminum, is extensible and flexible material.Single Point Forming is a sheet metal forming technique where a sheet is formed into the final workpiece by a series of small incremental deformations. Also, this project experiments three types path to test extensibility of metal sheet. 2019 淡江傳承工作營

2019 TKU Funicular Design Workshop

淡江傳承工作營是淡江數位設計實驗室的傳統,每年應屆畢業研究生會 將各自的研究成果分享給淡江學弟妹,很榮幸能貢獻所學,舉行了一整 天的工作營。 本次工作營將分為 Lecture 及 Tutorial 兩個部分。Lecture 將包含簡介圖 解靜力學、軟體初步介紹與講者在義大利砌築暑期學校的經驗分享;下 午則是 RhinoVAULT 的軟體教學。

Tamkang legacy workshop is the tradition of Tamkang Digital Design Lab. Each year, fresh graduate students will share their research results with others in Tamkang. I am honored to contribute what I have learned and hold a full day workshop. The worshop will be divided into two parts, Lecture and Tutorial. Lecture will include a brief introduction to graphic statics, a preliminary introduction to software, and the experience about the Italian Masonry Summer School. In the afternoon, the schedule is RhinoVAULT's software tutorial.
