For citizens :
We organize seminars and workshops in the context of lifelong learning to give awareness and empathy of citizens on specific issues , to change consciousness and behaviors in everyday practices .
The subjects stands with the interconnection of each EEC with local communities , local collaborations with the social partners and NGOs . Many actions are done in cooperation with local authorities in order to assist in the task of raising awareness.
It is important at this point to refer to the term Lifelong Learning and how we interpret this:
Lifelong Learning are all forms of learning activities designed to acquire or develop knowledge, skills and abilities that contribute to the formation of an integrated personality, social , economic and cultural development ,and to give the ability of active partnership and development of the individual .
So the EECs , from the first moment they were assigned this task ,by decision of the Ministry of Education , have as their top priority , detection , recording and prioritizing learning needs of citizens ,
so that through the training seminars and activities, offer the possibility of awareness about various issues, which will emphasize the growing ecological awareness , will investigate both local and general environmental problems ,
will get in contact with the local culture and history , with a view to improve the people knowledge and skills for the sustainable development of the region .

We want to close this section by saying that in many of these activities , participants , when visiting ,as part of a seminar, an area ,they find some ecological changes and make written complaints to the authorities.
In most cases , these complaints get results .
Wetland of Bramiana Crete
Some examples are the complaints about the river Aposelemis in Heraklion where was created a moto - cross track and a part of the wetland had changed (seminar on wetlands of Crete on 12-13/02/2011 ) . Already the case has been handled by judicial authorities and we hope for a successful result .
Also on the Chrissi island of Ierapetra_Crete, with a big impact from mass tourism, illegal camping, many waste etc ( seminar on biodiversity in Chrissi Island on 25-26-27/06/2012 ) . In this case , after the complaint submitted by the participants in the seminar, the municipality of Ierapetra commissioned the University of Crete to draw up a management plan and has taken political decisions to fix things in this small paradise .
In other cases , arising from seminars ,citizens' initiatives that have been sensitized on the issue attended . Some examples we can mention is the creation of a citizens' committee against Industrial Renewable Energy in Crete ,
Cistus Creticus- creticus/Ladania
after the meeting of 27/01/2012, in which on an island which needs currently 650Mw, is planned to give licenses for wind turbines and photovoltaic of 6500Mw, interconnect the island with 5 cables of electricity with mainland of Greece and from there the energy is channeled and sold in Europe.

Also a committee established for the creation of the Botanical Park in the rue Lassithi , after the meeting of 03 / 11/2013 , already comes to a plan, with the help of the local forestry authority, and with voluntary work will create the park.
B. Networks coordinated by EEC
• By decision of the Ministry of Education , following a request submitted by an EEC, who wants to be the coordinator of the network , approves the establishment of national thematic networks (targeted at schools throughout the territory of Greece )
the EEC of Vamos_Chania coordinates the national network "caves of Greece to the light"
regional thematic networks (targeted at school units of this region, eg Crete ,Western Macedonia etc).
They may, however , be established local thematic networks at regional unity (eg Heraklion Lassithi etc). The EEC of Lassithi is coordinator of a local network, involving 34 schools, on the subject, “the management of waste and the recycling.
The networks are participating schools ,after their request to join the network if they have set up a group of students and teachers and have taken work of environmental education in school, relative to the subjec of the network.
It is signed a cooperation protocol between the EEC and the school unit , stating the rights and obligations of cooperating parties Light lunches offering by E.E.C
With networks, are working together scientists , faculty , institutions , local governments, government agencies and NGOs (eg WWF, local ecological groups of citizens ), citizens with expertise on the topic of the seminar , etc.
Maria Noidou, WWF of Greece
In the context of networks, besides the activities and tasks taken by schools to support the coordinating EEC, are organized informative seminars for the training of teachers participating the network or for the presentation of the work carried out by the partner schools and they exchange experience and knowledge.
Before I present you the subject of some of the networks that have been created in our country, note that it can be created a pyramid network with the same subject , starting from local networks , regional networks and then go to a national network.
Topics of some of the 40 approved national and regional thematic networks :
