The attendance figure ranked in the top-10 nationally for a regular-season game, and was the highest attendance to watch a basketball game, men’s or women’s, that season at the Coliseum. Part of the celebration that evening was a ceremony prior to the game honoring lone senior Ayana “Yaya” Dunning as she played in her final home game as a Mountaineer. “Fantastic crowd—unbelievable. I want to thank everyone for coming,” Carey said. “Yaya, it’s her last home game here and she’s been a great player for us. She is a great young lady and graduated already and is working on her master’s. I’m really proud of her and just wish her the best.”
