Chelsea Carrier-Eades [ 5-6 • senior • multi/hurdles • buckhannon, w.va. ] At West Virginia in 2011: • Broke school records in the 60-meter hurdles, 100-meter hurdles, pentathlon, and heptathlon • Named BIG EAST Athlete of the Week three times during the season • Made it to semifinals round of the 100-meter hurdles at the USA Track and Field Championships • Named first team All-America in the heptathlon with a third-place finish at the NCAA Championships with 5,761 points, coming in first place in the 100-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash • Named third team All-America in the 100-meter hurdles with a 19th-place finish in 13.56 at the NCAA Championships • Named Mid-Atlantic Women’s Field Athlete of the Year following third-place mark in the 100-meter hurdles (13.08 seconds) and 38th place in the long jump at 5.66 meters • Named BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Meet and Most Outstanding Track Performer at the BIG EAST Championships following first-place finishes in the long jump (6.42 meters, second-best on WVU all-time list), 100-meter hurdles (13.07 seconds) and 400-meter hurdles (57.48 seconds) • Broke school record in 100-meter hurdles with 12.97-seconds mark at the Jesse Owens Classic, overcoming her own record of 13.04 seconds • Earned second-best collegiate score of season in the heptathlon at the Texas Relays, earning 5,927 points after breaking two school and five personal records • Came in first place in four of the seven events of the heptathlon at Texas Relays, breaking two records set by former WVU great Pat Itanyi in both heptathlon score (1997: 5,684 points) and 100-meter hurdles (1996: 13.20 seconds) • During indoor season, earned two All-America honors in the 60-meter hurdles and pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships • For 60-meter hurdles All-America, came in fourth place with a time of 8.08 seconds • Earned All-America in the pentathlon after coming in fifth place with 4,128 points • At BIG EAST, came in first in the pentathlon with 4,170 points and the 60-meter hurdles (8.15 seconds), becoming first back-to-back champion for the event since Villanova’s Charmaine Walker in 2000-01 At West Virginia in 2010: • Named the Mid-Atlantic Field Athlete of the Year • Earned first All-America honor with a fourth-place finish in the pentathlon (4,133 points) • Finished first in the 60-meter hurdles (8.29), fifth in the 800-meter run (2:19.49), tied for fifth in the high jump (1.71 meters) and placed 16th in the shot put (10.40 meters) to post the second-best performance of her career and put her second on WVU’s all-time performance list for the event • Named All-American after placing sixth in the 60-meter hurdles • BIG EAST Indoor champion in the pentathlon (3,994 points) • Finished first in the 60-meter hurdles (8.48), tied for third in the high jump (1.68 meters), finished ninth in the shot put (10.61 meters), first in the long jump (5.92-meters) and fourth in the 800-meter run (2:25.61) • BIG EAST champion in the 60-meter hurdles (8.31) • Competed in the long jump and finished in seventh place (5.83 meters) • Broke a school and meet record and posted an NCAA automatic qualifying standard in the pentathlon • Won the event with 4,136 points to break the school record previously set by Pat Itanyi in 1997 (4,111) • Finished first in the 60-meter hurdles (8.45), the high jump (1.71 meters), the long jump (5.92 meters), the shot put (10.99 meters) and the 800-meter run (2:20.09) • Aided the 4x400-meter relay team to a first-place finish at the WVU State Farm Games (4:00.6) • Finished first in the long jump (5.77 meters) • Finished second in the 60-meter hurdles at the PSU Northeast Challenge (8.51) • Helped the 4x400-meter relay team to a 10th-place finish (3:53.01)
