Gary Carrier became Washburn’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder while playing basketball for the Ichabods from 1981-85 … he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995 … Carrier holds WU career records with 2,626 points, 1,167 rebounds, 1,046 field goals made and 534 free throws made … he was a three-time NAIA All-American and in 1992 he became the first Ichabod inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame … he earned all-district and all-CSIC honors all four years and his final two years he was named district and conference MVP … in Carrier’s sophomore year, 1982-83 he scored 589 points, ninth most for a single-season total and he earned honorable mention All-America honors … the following year he set the school record with 833 points and was named a first-team All-American … he repeated that honor his final year with 824 points, the second most in school history … he finished as one of just two Ichabods to score 2,000 points and take in 1,000 rebounds … Carrier played one year with the Topeka Sizzlers of the Continental Basketball Association.

Tom Meier played for the Ichabods from 1983-87 he earned two All-America awards and finished his career with the NAIA national title … he was inducted into the Washburn Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996 … Meier led Washburn in scoring as a junior and senior earning All-American honors … his junior year he earned honorable mention and then after his senior year he was named first team NAIA All-America … he was also named District 10 MVP as a senior … Meier’s career ended at the highest level as the Ichabods won the 1987 NAIA national championship in Kansas City … the Ichabods went 35-4, won the CSIC championship and ended the year on a 22-game winning streak, including the five games of the NAIA national tournament … Meier finished his four years at Washburn with 2,082 points and 1,155 rebounds, both the second highest totals in school history … he averaged 16.4 points per game and held the school record with a .644 career field goal percentage … he shot .670 his junior year to top the school record he set two years before … his 367 made free throws was third best in school history.

Rich Hamilton led the Ichabods in scoring with 15.1 points a game in 1987-88, his senior year as he earned NAIA All-American honorable mention … Hamilton played two years at Washburn and scored 850 points, averaging 13.7 a game … his senior year he earned NAIA all-district honors, as well as a spot on the all-Central States Intercollegiate Conference team … his senior year he pulled down 9.4 rebounds a game to lead the team and he ended his two years at Washburn with 13.7 points and 7.6 rebounds … he finished fourth in career blocks with 67 blocks and third averaging 1.1 per game … Hamilton was a 61 percent shooter in his two years, peaking with a 63 percent performance his final year.
