2014-15 NOTES The Washington State women’s golf team completed one of its most successful seasons in program history with its second NCAA Championships’ appearance in program history, the lowest team scoring average in WSU history, and a fifth tournament title in as many seasons. STARTING IN THE RED: The Cougars opened their 2014-15 season with three rounds under par through just six rounds. On all three occasions, Washington State carded a team single-round score of 285. In the opening round of the WSU Cougar Cup, the Cougars fired a 3-under 285, before repeating the feat in the second round. WSU went on to finish the tournament 3-over with a 54-hole total of 867, the third-best score in program history. At the Cougars’ second tournament of the season, the squad combined for a 3-under 285 in the final round of the NM State Aggie Invitational. Each of the Cougars three marks of 285 tie for the third-best single-round team score in school history. YANAGI CLAIMS CHAMPIONSHIP AT COUGAR CUP: Junior Nani Yanagi earned her first career title at the WSU Cougar Cup, Sept. 22-23. The Hilo, Hawaii native fired rounds of 71, 69, and 70 to finish the tournament 6-under par (210). The score is the third-best in school history and the lowest by a Cougar since 2003, when All-American Kim Welch fired a 209 at the Oregon Duck Invitational. COUGARS AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS: For the second time in school history Washington State University was represented at the national championships. Freshman Alivia Brown donned the Crimson and Gray at the NCAA Championships after notching a sixthplace finish at the NCAA St. George Regional. Brown was one of 12 individuals to qualify for the national championships and one of four freshman. RUE GOES OUT IN STYLE: Senior Kristen Rue closed her WSU career having competed in all 123 rounds of her collegiate career. The Gig Harbor, Wash., native played 33 rounds in her final season, each time providing a counting score for the Cougars. Rue completed her senior campaign with a season scoring average of 74.36, the third-best scoring average in WSU history. Rue’s season average brings her career average to 75.50, the fourth-best career scoring average in school history. COUGARS NOTCH LOW SCORES: On three occasions throughout the season, a WSU women’s golfer fired a 68 or better. In the third round of the NM State Aggie Invitational, junior Nani Yanagi carded a 67. The score ties for the second-best single-round score in WSU history. Later in the season, fellow junior Rachel Lewis fired a 68 in the third round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. At the Pac-12 Preview freshman Alivia Brown fired a 5-under 68 at the par-73 Nanea Golf Club. The score ties for the second-best score relative to par in program history.

2014-15 NOTES HARMON GRACES RECORD BOOKS: Senior Lindsay Harmon finished her collegiate career having competed in 86 rounds for the Crimson and Gray. The Lake Oswego, Ore., native finished with a scoring average of 77.64, the eighth-best average in school history. COUGARS WITH LOWEST AVERAGE IN HISTORY: As a team, the Cougars averaged 299.45 strokes per round during the 2014-15 season. The scoring average is the lowest by a women’s golf team in WSU history. The top three scoring averages in program history have all come in the past three seasons, as Coach Kamimura’s 2012-13 team maintained a 303.06 average, while last season’s squad averaged 305.13 strokes per round. FRESHMAN PHENOM: A native of Gig Harbor, Wash., freshman Alivia Brown competed in all 11 regular-season tournaments for the Cougars. Brown then garnered national recognition, as she was selected to compete as an individual at the NCAA St. George Regional Championships, becoming the first freshman in WSU history to be selected as an individual for the postseason. The selection marked the first appearance by the Cougars at the NCAA Regional Championships since 2007. In the first and third rounds, Brown fired even 71s, both of which tied for the best single-round score in WSU postseason history. With a three-round score of 219 in a field that featured 96 golfers, Brown finished in sixth place, the best finish of her career. The finish earned Brown a birth into the NCAA Division I Championships, played in Bradenton, Fla., May 22-27. Brown became the first Cougar women’s golfer since 2003 to compete in the national championships, when WSU competed as a team, led by All-American Kim Welch.
