From the Chancellor‌ This year saw students, faculty and staff honored for their accomplishments and a broadening of our emphasis on preparing graduates to be successful once they leave the campus. We had students representing the State of North Carolina in programs at The White House and at the U.S. Olympic Training Center along with faculty and staff members earning recognition from their peers. In addition to increasing the university’s emphasis on the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) areas through a number of new on-campus initiatives, we also offered a variety of programs for area middle school students, including a very popular CSI Summer Camp. Collaborations with institutions across the globe and incorporating a variety of global topics into our curriculum continue to provide our students with a broader perspective of the changing world in which we live. Of course, our athletics program had another outstanding year with the football team going all the way to the NCAA Division II championship game. With all of the progress that continues to be made on the WSSU campus, there is always more work to be done. Because of reductions in state funding and in financial aid for our students, your investment in WinstonSalem State was more crucial than ever. Here are some of the highlights of the year that we hope will illustrate just a few of the exciting happenings that you have helped to make possible.
