More lives will be saved across the eastern region now that a dedicated air ambulance has made history and been granted permission to fly helicopter emergency medical East Anglia EMS Eurocopter service (HEMS) EC135 missions at night. Following 18 months of demanding hard work from the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) and its aircraft operator Bond Air Services, the Charity can now begin flying to incidents which occur during the hours of darkness using Night Vision Imaging Systems (NVIS), the first dedicated air ambulance in England and Wales to be allowed to do so. Tim Page, Chief Executive of EAAA, said: “We are all extremely proud to be able to say that EAAA is the first dedicated air ambulance in the country to be granted permission to fly at night but, above all, this is great news for the people of East Anglia as there is evidence to say that this development in operations will mean that more lives will be saved across the region.”

CHARITY AIR AMBULANCE FOR SCOTLAND A Scottish charityfunded air ambulance helicopter has gone operational. Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) is based at Perth Airport SCAA MBB Bo 105 Air Ambulance and will supplement the work of the Scottish Ambulance Service. It will be crewed by Scottish Ambulance Service paramedics and operate 10 hours a day, seven days a week, through the 999 emergency service. A total of 32 charity-funded helicopter air ambulances operate across England. The Scottish government funds two helicopters and two fixed-wing aircraft which are based in Glasgow, Inverness and Aberdeen.
KAMOV KA-226T COMPLETES OLYMPIC TEST - EMS test missions for Winter Olympics in Sochi completed The Kamov Ka-226T, a light multipurpose helicopter with coaxial rotors, developed by the Russian Helicopters company has taken part in test search and rescue missions as part of preparations for the Winter Olympic Games to be held in Sochi, 2014. The test flights of Ka-226T which was equipped with a medical module took place in the Krasnaya Polyana region near Sochi in early Spring 2013. Flights were conducted with medical personnel from the Southern Regional Centre for Emergency Medicine, the rescue service of “Rosengeneering Operation” which provides services for the maintenance and operation of the organization of ski resorts, as well as senior engineers from the flight test facility of the Russian Helicopters. Flights were controlled by an honoured test co-pilot Pavel Kalinin, the aircraft was operated by the honored test pilot Yury Timofeev.
