Average Earnings of Wage and Salary Mexican Immigrant Workers During 2009 monthly average earnings of wage and salary Mexican immigrant workers in the United States were $2,190 (table 16.3). However, the average earnings of those who had U.S. citizenship ($2,758) were 38 percent higher than those without it ($1,999). This partly reflected higher levels of schooling of Mexican immigrants with citizenship than those without it and differences in the industry sector distribution of these two groups of Mexicans.
