For Good. Forever. Since it was established in 1921, The Winnipeg Foundation has been built by donors from all walks of life. Thanks to their generosity and foresight, the Foundation was able to grant $20.8 million to a wide range of community organizations last year. In its efforts to encourage community philanthropy, The Winnipeg Foundation works closely with professional advisors who help clients determine their goals for the community and develop a plan for charitable giving. We recognize the important role these professionals play in linking people who wish to make a lasting difference in the community to the options offered by The Winnipeg Foundation. For more information about the tools and resources available please call 944.9474 or visit www.wpgfdn.org. Congratulations Winnstock – on 6 years of rockin’ for charity!

Tracy Koga – Shaw TV “Backstage” producer Tracy Koga will say the best part of her job are the very interesting people she meets on a daily basis, whether famous or not, they all have a story to tell! Twist’in with Chubby Checker, paw painting with dogs, or slicing and dicing with a samurai sword...those are only SOME of the things Tracy does for her job! In her down time Tracy can be seen in the hockey rink, sitting on the football sidelines, or walking the golf course, NOT as a participant but as a spectator, cheering on her two sons with husband Kevin Neiles.

the judges Brad Oswald – Winnipeg free press

When Brad Oswald was a little kid, his mother used to stand cross-armed in the living-room doorway, issuing an oft-repeated warning that went something like this: “If you insist on staring at that IDIOT box day after day after day, you will NEVER amount to ANYTHING in this world!” Funny how things work out, isn’t it? For the past couple of decades, Brad has been the television critic for the Winnipeg Free Press, which basically amounts to staring at that idiot box, day after day ... and drawing a steady pay cheque for doing so. As they say in showbiz ... it’s a good gig.

Howard Mandshein – 92 citi fm Howard Mandshein is a child of the 50’s who was first introduced to music by the mighty KY58 in the early 60’s. Maybe the music was first to seduce him... Elvis, Bobby Darrin, the Everly Brothers but it was the radio and the role that the medium played. That little box became his companion, escape and playground. Howard continued his love for the medium of radio at the University of Manitoba campus radio station in the late 1970’s. Soon, Howard was tapped by Gary “Magic” Christian to join the team at 92 CITI FM just as the fledgling station hit the airwaves. Now, years later, Howard is the quintessential radio DJ and host for nations of classic rock fans in WInnipeg and beyond on 92 CITI.

Chapter 11 In 1972 a crack investment unit was sent to prison by a federal court for a financial crime they didn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from a minimum security stockade into the Winnipeg underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as a mediocre cover band. If you have a party, if no one else will help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire‌ Chapter 11.

mutual macfun “Like a pint of Guinness, Mutual MacFun starts out bitter and becomes better the more you drink”, as spoken by Murray MacHillis. Leaving the old country behind, Bayne Robertson, Brian Boydonald, along with MacHillis, they searched for golden pastures in the land of the lager lakes. Out of the golden haze of beverage filled days, they came to discover the brothers Morrison, Kelly and Jock. Now the creamy brew known as Mutual MacFun began to take shape. The fermentation process became complete when Ryan McSchultsy and Chris Durstonaldson added their special flavour to the band. Murray MacHillis adds, “The band is a keg full of costume involving, constantly evolving, member revolving na’er do wells who throw down jig and reel as quick as they can a bottle of ale. So on with your kilt, fill a pint to the hilt, bend your arm at the elbow and give your lager a tilt. Put your feet on the floor and dance till you’re sore, if you had doubts last year, then wonder no more. It’s Mutual MacFun and though they may stink, if you cheer loud enough, they may buy you a drink!” Murray MacHillis Great-West Life (vocals) Brian Boydonald Great-West Life (guitar) Kelly Morrison Morris Financial (drums) Jock Morrison Morris Financial (guitar) Ryan McSchultsy CRA (guitar) Chris Durstonaldson Investors Group (keyboards) Bayne Robertson Great-West Life (guitar)

dead cat bounce THE EPIC HISTORY OF DEAD CAT BOUNCE is well known. The band has several times risen, Phoenix-like, from the ashes of personal despair to not just revolutionize modern music, but simultaneously foretell a worldwide stock market recovery. The band re-formed in 2009 during the maelstrom of a global financial meltdown and credit panic unseen since 1929. The Cats staked their reputation on the apparent hopeless task of bringing the world financial system back from the brink of economic collapse, at a time when the abyss had never seemed deeper or darker. Against all odds, they did it. The mere announcement that Dead Cat Bounce would appear at Winn$tock 2009 started the global market recovery. Incredible as it seems, though, something was missing – a critical component necessary to achieve a more pure level of perfection. Dead Cat Bounce 2010 has added vocal prodigy and a top bred live cat, Kat (Katherine) Penfold to the line-up of Ken and Dan Taylor, Al Shell, Harry Blackwood, and David Christianson. Grab your tail and get ready to spin!

certified chiques What happens when you take three desk-by-day gals – a bluegrass singer, an opera singer, and a closet rock-nroll singer – and form a band? You’ve got yourself some chicks gone certifiable! Toss in a metal drummer, an accordion-playing keyboardist, a new-wave punk plucker, a golf-ball toting bass player and a bee-wildering lead guitarist and you’ve got a mix not to be missed. You’re going to go gaga for Certified Chiques.

Anatomy of the new logo We can all agree that Winn$tock the event has grown up since it’s inception 6 years ago... better bands, better music, better organization, better fundraising. With that growth it was time for the look to grow too. With the help of Champion Design a new Winn$tock logo was introduced this year to help give a more professional face to this wonderful event for the business, fundraising and general communities. But, it’s not just another pretty face.

The circle encompassing the logomark giving strength and support and representing the various communities affected by this great event.

Guitar plug represents the electrifying music played at the event as well as the power transferred from the participants to the charities.

Simple, paper-cut styled, fist pumping, fingers raised symbol of rock & roll itself – also makes a nice “W” shape and puts the “Winn” in Winn$stock.

Dollar sign/”S” stylized to give recognition within wordmark to logomark.

Stylized dollar sign used in logomark represents the financial community involvement as well as the significant contribution the event makes to local charity – also makes a nice “S” and puts the “$tock” in Winn$tock.

Interchangeable date for ease of use and flexibility from year to year.

Descriptive yet succinct positioning statement.
