Cancellations & Refunds. If we are forced to cancel any excursion, a full refund will be made. In the event of a customer cancelling we shall apply charges in line with the scale below. MAY Tuesday 3rd Historic Guildford with optional Cathedral visit ROUTE A This county town has a vibrant historic centre retaining its traditional cobbled high street and riverside walks along the River Wey. The town has superb shopping with three covered shopping centres offering the best shopping in Surrey. There is also a wide choice of cafes, restaurants and bars. There is plenty of history to explore around the town or why not take a river boat trip on the River Wey. We also include the option to visit the amazing Cathedral with its celebrated design. Wednesday 4th Sidmouth & The Donkey Sanctuary ROUTE Z Situated on the Jurassic Coast of Devon, Sidmouth has a unique charm and an atmosphere of years gone by. Very popular with our customers the town has beautiful gardens, leisurely walks and a delightful Esplanade with views along the stunning coastline. The regency heritage around the town includes an array of friendly independent shops. After time here for lunch we travel the short distance to the popular Donkey Sanctuary with time to meet the donkeys, explore the visitor centre and enjoy a welcome cup of tea in the Hayloft Restaurant. Thursday 5th Lyme Regis ROUTE Z The picturesque seaside town of Lyme Regis is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the border of Dorset and Devon. Plenty to explore among the narrow streets with a lovely selection of shops and tempting tearooms leading to the 13th-century Cobb harbour as featured in the film 'The French Lieutenant's Woman'. After joining the ferry from Lymington we will be joined by one of our local guides for a tour of the Island – we try to see as much as possible during the day. The island boasts 60 miles of spectacular coastline and beautiful countryside. We take in many of the best sights and usually include Newport, Sandown, Godshill, Shanklin, Ventnor, Freshwater and Alum Bay. There will be a main stop for lunch. A great day out. Once the home of one of the great society hostesses of the time, the house entertained the celebrities and royalty of the age. The house was transformed into a glittering spectacle by the same architects who designed The Ritz Hotel in London. Amongst the rooms there is an extensive collection of fine art from Dutch old masters to ceramics including Faberge eggs. Outside, there are lovely grounds to explore with splendid gardens and woodland for those who want a longer walk. Facilities include the Granary Café which serves a selection of hot and cold food. There are stunning views around the grounds and gothic temples, monuments and rare plants surround the tranquil lake. The Palladian Mansion is full of Georgian treasures, Chippendale furniture and fine paintings. This really is an amazing destination and is well worth a visit. Price includes entrance. Lacock Abbey, Fox Talbot Museum & Village, Wiltshire National Trust ROUTE A One of the jewels of the National Trust, Lacock Abbey & Village is located near Chippenham and is a wonderful day out. Step back in time in this uniquely preserved village, owned by the National Trust. The medieval cloistered abbey was once the home of William Henry Fox Talbot – the 'father of modern photography' and there is now a fascinating museum in the village. NT Members- £18.50 © Flickr/Maureen Barlin Tuesday 17th Watercress Railway Line & Jane Austen's House ROUTE B Step back in time to the Golden Age of the train on board one of the Watercress Line's steam or heritage diesel locomotives as they run through ten miles of rolling Hampshire countryside, along the northern edge of the new South Downs National Park. Our day begins by boarding the train from New Alresford for the 40 minute trip to Alton. Free time in Alton for lunch before we head to the delightful Hampshire village of Chawton. Jane Austen's House Museum is a fascinating place to visit for anyone with an interest in literature and is located in the heart of the village. Price includes train fare and entrance to Museum. Wednesday 18th Dorchester Market & Weymouth ROUTE Y Lovely day out as we visit our historic county town in the heart of 'Hardy's country and boasting elegant 18th century houses, interesting museums, good shopping and a great Market on Wednesdays. Afterwards we travel to Weymouth with time in this rejuvenated traditional seaside resort. Adults/Over 60/Child - £12.00 Wednesday 18th Greys Court, Oxfordshire - National Trust ROUTE A The site of Greys Court in the Chilterns has an amazing history. Although there has been a manor on the estate since the 11th century, the current house was built in the 16th century after it had fallen in to disrepair. This beautiful and intimate Tudor Manor House has been home to many aristocracy, politicians and was also the home of Ian Fleming’s mother. Outside there are lawns and a series of delightful walled gardens. For those who wish to explore further there is a 2 mile stile-free walk which also joins up with the Chiltern Way. Friday 20th Henley with delicious Afternoon Cream Tea Cruise ROUTE A Adjacent to the River Thames, Henley is best known for its annual Royal Regatta, attracting some of the world's finest rowers. Why not tread in the footsteps of Redgrave & Pinsent and stop off at the town's award-winning River and Rowing Museum. But there is more to the town, with its historic church, Town Hall, market square and excellent shops and restaurants. After time in the town we head to Maidenhead to complete the day with a wonderful 2 hour cruise in our covered river boat. Whilst on board we pass Cliveden House and the glorious riverside houses of the many celebrities at Bray. Tuesday 31st RAF Museum – London ROUTE A Only 6 miles from central London, the Royal Air Force Museum London now offers FREE admission to all. The Museum houses a world-class collection of aircraft, aviation artefacts and memorabilia based at The Royal Air Force Museum's London site at Hendon. There is plenty to see - more than enough for a days visit! There are different exhibitions in separate hangers which include Milestones of Flight, Bomber Hall, Battle of Britain Hall and Marine Craft Collection. Bombay Sapphire is one of the worlds premium Gins with its production distillery beautifully situated in an historic old Mill on the River Test. It now offers a fascinating tour of the facility where you can discover the exotic botanicals grown in the striking Glasshouses, see the huge copper infusion Stills and explore the history of the drink. Sherborne and Dorset Villages ROUTE Y Thursday 2nd Sherborne is, perhaps, the most beautiful town in Dorset and has an abundance of medieval buildings, superb Abbey, world famous Schools and picturesque Almshouse. Sherborne has a lovely intimate atmosphere and is a delight to explore with an array of independent shops selling a variety of goods, including fashion boutiques and Art & Antique Dealers. Friday 3rd Hever Castle, Kent ROUTE( Famously the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII, this splendid moated castle is one of the best in the country. Inside, the splendid panelled rooms contain fine furniture and one of the best collections of Tudor Portraits in the UK. Around the castle you can learn about life in days gone by with interactive exhibitions to bring the history to life. Outside there are 125 acres of glorious grounds to explore with many different themes. There is an Italian Garden, English Rose Garden, maze, giant topiary chess set and Loggia which overlooks the 38 acre lake. At this time of year there should be plenty of Signets to see..ahhh. Abbotsbury is located to the west of Weymouth and offers a fantastic day out. After spending time at The Swannery we travel to the nearby Sup Tropical Gardens, described by Alan Titchmarsh as “One of the finest gardens I have ever visited”. This magnificent 20 acre site offers stunning views of the Jurrasic Coast and is filled with exotic and rare plants from all over the world. Price includes entrance to both attractions.
