SEPTEMBER Saturday 10th Houses of Parliament Audio Tour ROUTE A Fascinating day out as we travel to Westminster. We have included an audio tour which includes the Commons and Lords Chambers, the Queen's Robing Room, the Royal Gallery and Westminster Hall. The tour takes approximately 75 minutes with visitor assistants along the route to help if required. Most of the buildings seen on the tour were built in the mid 19th Century following a devastating fire, but the route also incorporates some of the earlier buildings, such as Westminster Hall. Free time also to enjoy the area - other attractions close by include Westminster Abbey and the London Eye. Price includes tour. Highly recommended. The house is noted for its fine furniture, tapestries and heraldic glass and its amazing Long Gallery which extends the full length of the house - a remarkable 172ft! Outside there is a superb formal garden with mixed borders, old roses and a landscaped park - great for exploring. Tuesday 13th Osborne House – Isle of Wight (EH) ROUTE C Queen Victoria's seaside holiday home is a very popular destination with our customers. A fascinating rare glimpse in to Royal life in the 19th Century, the house has an extravagant interior and there are extensive gardens offering views across the Solent. Take an intimate glimpse into Queen Victoria's family life as you tour the nursery and private rooms of Victoria and Albert. Marvel at the magnificence of the Royal Apartments including the sumptuous drawing and dining rooms and the richly decorated Indianinspired Durbar Room. Wednesday 14th Broughton Castle ROUTE A Broughton Castle is a stunning moated and fortified manor house near Banbury in North Oxfordshire. Set in parkland and built of the rich local Hornton ironstone, it was selected by Simon Jenkins as one of only twenty to be awarded five stars in his book England's Thousand Best Houses. After stopping for lunch we shall arrive at Broughton for afternoon entry to the Castle and grounds. The core of the house was built in 1306 and the gatehouse in the early fifteenth century, but most of what you see today dates from the 1550's. It was a centre of opposition to Charles I and was besieged and damaged after the Battle of Edgehill in 1642. Tearoom open on site. Memorable experience. Uppark is an impressive late 17th Century National Trust house offering magnificent panoramic views from its setting, high on the South Downs of West Sussex. The house contains 18th Century collections of French furniture, paintings, ceramics and textiles. Perhaps the most impressive piece is the famous dolls' house which gives a detailed look of life at that time. The garden is picturesque, primarily foliage, with flowering shrubs, bulbs, perennials and herbaceous plants. When you need a rest, head for the Orangery Café for tea and a bite to eat. Friday 16th Dyrham Park - National Trust ROUTE A This spectacular 17th century baroque mansion is situated in South Gloucestershire, not far from Bristol. Surrounded by a stunning 274 acres of rolling parkland offering lovely views of the house and beyond. The house is renowned for an ancient herd of over 200 fallow dear. From the founder William Blathwayt, the house has a remarkable history and has many Dutch influences - there is a fine collection of paintings, wall hangings, furniture and ceramics. Thursday 13th Imperial War Museum, London ROUTE A The Imperial War Museum in London was created in 1917 to collect material relating to World War I and has gone on to collect from WW2 and more modern conflicts, telling the stories of people's experiences of modern war. Inside you will find military vehicles, weapons, war memorabilia, an extensive library, a photographic archive, and an art collection of 20th century and later conflicts. To mark the centenary of WWI the museum has some ground-breaking new galleries to discover. There is a café that serves hot and cold food. Exhibition content subject to change. Free admission. Bombay Sapphire Distillery Tour ROUTE C Friday 14th Come along for a tour of this remarkable site at Laverstoke in Hampshire. After stopping in Winchester, with time to explore and enjoy lunch we arrive at the distillery around 2.00pm. Bombay Sapphire is one of the worlds premium Gins with its production distillery beautifully situated in an historic old Mill on the River Test. It now offers a fascinating tour of the facility where you can discover the exotic botanicals grown in the striking Glasshouses, see the huge copper infusion Stills and explore the history of the drink. Departing your local pick-up point in the morning (approx. 9.30am), we travel to Torquay stopping for lunch in Bridport/West Bay or Otter Nurseries before arriving at the hotel mid afternoon with time to relax in the hotel before dinner followed by entertainment. Today we have a free day in Torquay. We shall drop you down in to town in the morning and return later to collect. The centre of Torquay has some excellent shopping, cafes and restaurants with an attractive waterfront area. Today we have an excursion along the edge of Dartmoor to Plymouth. We will be joined by a local guide for a coach tour which will include Plymouth Hoe, Devonport Naval Dockyard, Brunel’s magnificent Royal Albert Bridge and the Barbican area before free time in the city centre. We head home with a lunch stop at Otter Nurseries or Bridport/West Bay. Arriving back in the local area around 3.30/4.30pm.

Thursday 1st Waddesdon at Christmas - NT ROUTE B Built in the late 19th century by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild, this stately home near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, masquerades as a 16th century French Chateau. It was created by Rothschild to house his collection of 18th century French art and to entertain his fashionable friends. From mid November the house pulls out all the stops for Christmas. One wing of the house is open to the public and is sumptuously decorated with themed decorations arranged by Waddesdon's in-house design team. This Christmas a special gingerbread model of the house has been commissioned and will be on display. There are fantastic grounds to discover, a plant centre, aviary, Christmas shop and restaurant. Monday 5th Polesden Lacey at Christmas - NT ROUTE A Step back in to Christmas in the Edwardian age at this magnificent country retreat near Dorking.
