leapt into the new millennium,
with a determination to lead the way to the future, not follow in others’ footsteps. We carved out new paths with new research initiatives. WVU is ranked as a Research University (High Research Activity) by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. We excelled in health and science research, defining new frontiers with the opening of the Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute, and the awarding of our first forensic identification degrees.
