comic genius. To true form, Lilley stayed well beyond his advertised two-hour slot to sign everyone’s DVD. Also quitting television is Channel Nine sports reporter, the delightful Roz Kelly. Roz will relocate to South Africa with her cricketer fiancé Morne Morkel. Roz may still pop up on Nine from time to time doing freelance work.

CHATTER ON THE BOX with Nathan Taylor

O

ne of the most annoying people on television will be leaving the box soon. Comedian Dave Hughes has announced he’s quitting ‘The Project’ after five years on air. Hughesy, who will leave to concentrate on his stand-up career, will be replaced by former Rove McManus sidekick, Peter Helliar. Speaking of funny people, star of ‘Ja’mie: Private Schoolgirl’ and ‘Summer Heights High’, Chris Lilley, was in town on Sunday signing copies of his new DVD at Westfield Penrith. The event, which was held at the Mondo precinct, attracted more than 500 people who waited in the blazing sun for hours to meet the

Australian music icon Molly Meldrum will become a host on popular Foxtel music channel MAX in the New Year. Meldrum will join current presenters Chit Chat, James Reyne and Jane Gazzo hosting a range of programs including countdowns and interview specials. Meldrum is one of my favourite television personalities and someone of his experience deserves to be on the box more often. So, do yourself a favour and check him out! In a boost for Foxtel subscribers, even though they are still ripping us off with their constant price hikes, more channels have now become available on the iPad app, Foxtel Go. Subscribers can now watch Nickelodeon, Nick Jr, MTV, ESPN and ESPN2. On January 1, Foxtel will add the new SyFy, TVH!TS and Universal Channel, bringing the total number of live channels to 68. Sunrise hottie, I mean host, Sam Armytage has been announced as the host of Seven’s new makeover series ‘Bringing Sexy Back’. The series is set to change exhausted Australians into something extraordinary. ‘Bringing Sexy Back’ will air early 2014.

‘Mornings’ presenter and singer David Campbell will co-host Nine’s ‘Carols by Candlelight’ for the first time alongside ‘Today’s’ Lisa Wilkinson. Performers this year will include Anthony Callea, Marina Prior, David Hobson, Tim Campbell, Harrison Craig, Rachael Leahcar and Darren Percival. It airs, as always, Christmas Eve at 8.30pm so have your candles ready!

Good news for lovers of ‘Big School’, ‘Citizen Khan’ and ‘The Blacklist’ because they’ve all been renewed for further seasons. Not so good news for fans of ‘Ripper Street’ after it was canned after two seasons. It’s understood the cast and crew were shocked following the BBC’s decision to axe it due to poor ratings. Channel Ten will still air season two in 2014.
