Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) (Elementary and Secondary Initial Licensure Tracks)
Program Design The Master of Arts in Teaching (Elementary and Secondary Initial Licensure Tracks) is for educators or career changers who are working toward an Initial License. The 36credit program is designed to meet the requirements issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for the elementary level (grades 1-6) or secondary level (grades 5-8 or 8-12). Subject area majors leading to teacher licensure at the secondary level are: art, biology, chemistry, English literature, history, mathematics and Spanish. Courses are seven weeks, conducted throughout the calendar year, and offered in face-to-face or hybrid online formats.
