Modern I, II, III, IV

Turning against the structured techniques and shoes of ballet, modern dance favors a free style of dancing, using the concepts of contract/release, drop/flow, and gravity. This class consists of floor work, center work, a barre, and combinations that use the founding principles of modern dance and evolve them to the present.

Students will put the fundamentals to work by learning new steps, rhythms, patterns, and combinations. Dancers will continue to develop speed, clarity, dynamics, and the ability to execute to complex rhythmic combinations.
