Urban, cosmopolitan, modern, welcoming...just some of the adjectives that describe the city of Madrid, but this hasn’t always been the case. In fact,the city’s humble origins go back to a time when Madrid was a settlement, where hunting, shepherding and farming were the main activities.
Madrid no llega a tener importancia hasta la época musulmana, allá por el siglo VIII. Hasta entonces, los romanos y los visigodos habían estado por aquí pero de paso, por ser un cruce de importantes vías de comunicación hacia Mérida, Zaragoza o Córdoba.
