tension between workers and authorities in the Chengdu plant—that is something that cannot be fixed easily. We don’t know what Foxconn and Apple have done exactly to improve worker’s conditions, but whatever they’re doing, it hasn't convinced workers that it’s “all about worker’s happiness.”

In a gamplay demo at E3 we are treated to what is initially a cutscene. Then suddenly we realise we are playing the game. The graphics do not dumb down for gameplay and there are no loading screens, pauses, or giveaway signals that show that what is on screen has transitioned to actual gameplay. This is impressive to watch and the studio promises that the entire game will be like this.

Star Wars may take place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, but with 1313 it is about to get the gritty realism of the present-day world. A release date has not yet been revealed.

LucasArts is wowing gamers at E3 with Star Wars 1313, a gritty mature-rated take on the iconic sci-fi universe with no lightsabers, no gimmicks, and no corny dialogue - just pure first-person shooter goodness. LucasArts is wowing gamers at E3 with Star Wars 1313, a gritty mature-rated take on the iconic sci-fi universe with no lightsabers, no gimmicks, and no corny dialogue - just pure first-person shooter goodness. The first thing that is apparent is the unusual title for the game. There's no mention of Jedi, Sith, the Rebels, Empire, or galactic warfare. Even Bounty Hunters, which the game will focus on, are not mentioned, leading to an air of mystery around the game's storyline. 1313 is a reference to a level in the multi-level skyscraper planet of Coruscant, and it is on this level, deep down below the glistening cityscape that fans are familiar with from the films and other games, that the criminal underworld thrives, murdering and stealing their way through life. Immediately we see that this is a far cry from what we're used to in the child-friendly Star Wars canon.

With only one of the three next-generation consoles coming out this year, Nintendo's Wii U is understandably getting a lot of attention at E3. Like the original Wii it is something that has to be experienced to fully appreciate, but gamers can get some insight from a number of demonstration videos. With only one of the three next-generation consoles coming out this year, Nintendo's Wii U is understandably getting a lot of attention at E3. Like the original Wii it is something that has to be experienced to fully appreciate, but gamers can get some insight from a number of demonstration videos. First, check out the new gamepad itself. It has all the buttons you'd expect from a controller, as well as touchscreen that can be used with your fingers or a stylus, effectively bringing the Nintendo DS experience to the Wii. It wouldn't be Wii without motion control, however, so it also features a motion sensor, gyro sensor and geomagnetic sensor, which not only means it can be used to perform in-game actions; it even knows when you turn around.

At yesterday's presentation at E3 Nintendo revealed over two dozen games that will be coming to the Wii U, including Nintendo classics like Mario and Pikmin. Check out some of the lineup below. What is even more shocking about the game is the level of detail in the artwork, which makes the entire game look as good as what other games only produce for their trailers. Star Wars: The Old Republic, for example, had some amazing CGI videos, but the in-game art was considerably more cartoony. Star Wars 1313 defies these expectations.
