Knoxville - Tennessee used the same formula to earn a victory for the second straight game, rushing for 210 yards and giving up only 193 yards of total offense in a 28-10 win over Kentucky at Neyland Stadium. It was the 24th-consecutive win for the Vols over the Wildcats and Phillip Fulmer’s 152nd and final victory as Tennessee’s head coach. Quarterback Jonathan Crompton threw just eight passes and completed six of them for a total of 101 yards and a touchdown. He also carried eight times for 17 yards and a score. Gerald Jones was the Vols’ top rusher and receiver, carrying five times for 67 yards and a touchdown while catching three passes for 15 yards. Denarius Moore caught Crompton’s TD pass, a 63-yard strike that gave the Vols a 14-3 lead early in the second half. The Vols added two touchdowns in the final quarter, one a five-yard rush from Lennon Creer and the other a two-yard scamper from Jones. Arian Foster posted 59 yards on 21 carries to finish his UT career as No. 2 on the all-time rushing list with 2,964 yards. Senior linebacker Ellix Wilson led the Vols in tackles for the fifth time with nine stops. Fellow senior Nevin McKenzi posted seven tackles, including two that went for a loss.

Nashville - Tennessee rode a productive second quarter and a stingy defense to its 13th-straight win in Nashville over in-state rival Vanderbilt. The Vols got all of their points in the second quarter and then turned the game over to the defense in the second half. The UT defenders held Vanderbilt to just 25 yards rushing while forcing three turnovers. Tennessee rushed for 222 total yards and threw just nine passes for 21 yards. Lennon Creer led the effort on the ground with 80 yards on 13 carries. Arian Foster added 53 yards on 11 carries, and Montario Hardesty rushed seven times for 43 yards and a touchdown. B.J. Coleman came off the bench to take the majority of the snaps in the game and completed four passes for 21 passing yards. After a scoreless first quarter, Hardesty scored from eight yards out to cap a nine-play, 65-yard drive and give the Vols a 7-0 lead. A poor punt from Brett Upson gave the Vols prime field position on their next possession, which was converted into a field goal and a 10-0 lead. Vanderbilt’s ensuing possession ended in a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown from Eric Berry. The Vols would add another field goal just before the intermission to make the score 20-0. Rico McCoy led the Tennessee defensive effort for the fourth-straight game with 11 tackles.

Knoxville - Tennessee’s defense again played admirably, but offensive miscues led to defeat for the Vols, this time at the hands of the Wyoming Cowboys at Neyland Stadium. Tennessee surrendered 13 points, an interception return for a touchdown and another interception cashed in with a one-play, four-yard drive. It was all the Cowboys would need as the Volunteer offense couldn’t get on the scoreboard when it needed to the most, in the final 20 minutes of the game. Tennessee managed 101 yards on the ground and 118 through the air. Starter Nick Stephens and backup Jonathan Crompton combined to go 14-of-36. Crompton completed the Vols’ lone touchdown pass to Gerald Jones, who finished the game with five grabs for 37 yards, in the third quarter. In the absence of running backs Arian Foster and Montario Hardesty, sophomore Lennon Creer carried 16 times for 82 yards. The Vols had four second-half possessions after the Jones touchdown and all four times drove to midfield or closer, but could not score. Rico McCoy led the UT defensive effort with 10 tackles, while Demonte Bolden posted seven tackles with three going for a loss. Robert Ayers also posted two TFLs for five yards.
