A Note from Executive Director Lee Gibson Welcome aboard! On behalf of the Regional Transportation Commission, we are glad you chose RTC transit services for your travel today. We at the RTC are dedicated to providing you safe, convenient, and environmentally friendly service. Transit is an important element of a livable community—one that makes connections easy for users of all modes—including pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists. Transit also plays a vital role in economic development as it makes businesses more attractive and competitive, creating jobs and providing affordable access for employees and customers. It is important to the overall health and vitality of our community. Exciting new services are now provided by RTC. RTC RAPID on Virginia Street continues to grow with new vehicles now in use and new stations that come online this spring. Our newest transit center, RTC 4TH STREET STATION in Reno, is open. It will become a centerpiece in the downtown core providing important connections to employment, recreation, entertainment and education centers throughout the Truckee Meadows. RTC 4TH STREET STATION is a model of sustainability, incorporating the latest green building design technologies to reduce energy and water usage. You will notice features such as solar panels, efficient natural lighting methods and water efficient technologies throughout the building. An education program will be available in RTC 4TH STREET STATION to teach our customers about sustainability. These transit projects help create the jobs this community needs to become more competitive. At RTC, we strive to help people make the trips and connections they want, need and depend on. We provide more than 7 million transit rides per year on RTC RIDE, RTC Table of Contents SIERRA SPIRIT, RTC INTERCITY and our newest service RTC RAPID and RTC CONNECT.
