To Change Lives ! We are looking for people, companies and organizations that want to make a difference and want to grow their interests among this very important demographic. There are many ways in which this initiative can be supported: •  Monetary support •  Donation of equipment •  Commitment of people who are interested in speaking to or mentoring students •  Internship/training opportunities While we appreciate any and all contributions, we are looking to establish longer term partnerships.

The Initiative For many students, the future is something that happens to them. Dakar (a 501c 3 non profit) is working with Compton Unified School District to provide resources to these students so that they can begin to see, not only the possibilities, but the path they need to take to get there.

Success Internships Mentors Resources

While resources are an immediate concern, role models, mentors and opportunities through internships are critical to ensure success.

Background

81% students are Hispanic/18% are African American 50% of the students have parents who never graduated from high school. 32% of the students have parents who graduated only from high school. Compton Unified School District is an under-served community.

The concentration of students who could benefit from your time and presence is much higher than many other school districts. Percentages do not total 100% because some attended some college.
