ART CITY AUSTIN RETURNS THIS APRIL

T

he Art Alliance Austin is proud to produce the 65th Annual Art City Austin - a juried art fair featuring over 115 local and national artists working in a variety of mediums. It is the largest art marketplace in Central Texas, selling original artwork at various price points. The festival also features great live music, local food trailers, craft beer and cocktails, and interactive projects for kids of all ages, making this an event for the whole family. “Art City Austin is the culmination of a national juried art competition,” said Asa Hursh, Executive Director of Art Alliance Austin. “We’ve attracted some incredible artists from all across the country -- from California, to Georgia, to Chicago, to Pennsylvania. We’re bringing back many of our favorite and most popular artists as well as attracting some new talent that will be showing at Art City Austin for the first time. Art City is Austin’s biggest art marketplace and the best place to build a collection, add to an existing one, or even just see some great art and meet the artists themselves.” This year’s Art City Austin will feature something brand new - a curated contemporary art area called the “Austin Art Pavilion” presented by Tito’s Handmade Vodka. The pavilion will feature work produced by regional artists and is curated by local experts including Thao Votang and Brian Willey of Tiny Park Gallery, Rebecca Marino of Pump Project, Troy Campa of Camiba Art, Austin Nelsen of Co-Lab Projects and Rachel Stephens of Wally Workman Gallery. “Art City Austin is the second oldest outdoor festival in a city that seems to have a limitless number of festivals - that’s saying something,” said Hursh. “This year we’ve also worked very hard so that all components of the festival reflect our vibrant creative community. Although Art City’s focus is art, the festival is also packed with other activities for kids and adults. We’re assembling the best food truck court in town, we’ll have kids activities, craft beer from Austin Beerworks and a special Art City cocktail designed by Tito’s Handmade Vodka. And we’re thrilled to partner with Austin’s top music talent to be featured on the Black Fret Music Stage presented by KUTX, showcasing Elizabeth McQueen, Jonny Gray, Graham Wilkinson, and Amy Cook among others.” Art City Austin is taking place on Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in downtown Austin. The festival, which is the second oldest outdoor festival in Austin, will take place on Cesar Chavez Street between Guadalupe and Lamar. Tickets are available online. (artallianceaustin.org) VH
