Saturday, March 15 An evening with the JACK Quartet The School of Music, in collaboration with the UW World Series, presents an evening with the JACK Quartet, one of the most exciting chamber groups on the international scene performing the music of today. The New York-based group caps off a week-long residency at the School of Music with an evening of two distinct concerts of composed and improvised music performed by the quartet, along with visiting artists from the Six Tones ensemble and School of Music faculty Richard Karpen, Juan Pampin, Cuong Vu, and Ted Poor.

The JACK Quartet performs works by UW composers Program highlights include the world premiere of a new work by Juan Pampin, School of Music composition faculty and director of the Center for Digital Arts and Experimental Media, and a new work by School of Music Director Richard Karpen, performed by the JACK Quartet and musicians from the Six Tones—Nguyen Thanh Thuy and Ngo Tra My from Hanoi, Vietnam, and Stefan Östersjö from Malmo, Sweden. Meany Studio Theater 7:30 pm $25 ($23 UWAA and UW staff; $10 UW students)*

Improvised Music by the JACK and UW musicians The JACK Quartet performs a concert of improvised music with other guest musicians and UW faculty musicians Cuong Vu (trumpet), Ted Poor (drums), Richard Karpen (piano), and Juan Pampin (live electronics).
