VOLS KEPT RANDLE OFF THE GLASS

¢ Kentucky freshman and National Player of the Year candidate Julius Randle entered the Jan. 18 Tennessee-Kentucky game averaging 11.1 rpg. ¢ The Vols held Randle to a season-low two rebounds in that contest. It was just the fifth time in 17 games that he totaled fewer than 10 boards. ¢ In that same game, UT held Kentucky sevenfooter Willie Cauley-Stein to three rebounds. No Wildcat player grabbed more than four boards in that contest, as Tennessee out-rebounded UK 39-24.

REBOUNDING RECORDS REVOLUTION

¢ Tennessee’s frontcourt tandem of Jeronne Maymon and Jarnell Stokes is rewriting Tennessee’s offensive rebounding records. ¢ Stokes averages 3.76 orpg during his career, while Maymon has a UT career average of 2.83 orpg. If their career averages improve or stand firm, they will rank first and second, respectively, on UT’s all-time list. Former Vol C.J. Black currently stands atop Tennessee’s career list with 2.47 orpg from 1996-2000. ¢ Stokes averaged 4.18 orpg as a sophomore last season. That is the best single-season mark in program history.

COMPARING UT’s WINS & LOSSES

¢ Here’s a look at the starkest statistical differences between UT’s wins and losses: WINS CATEGORY LOSSES 81.0 Scoring Offense 62.3 60.7 Scoring Defense 68.5 .395 Field Goal Pct. Defense .463 29.0 Rebounding Defense 33.0 .747 Free Throw Pct. .623 14.7 Assists Per Game 9.7 15.1 Jarnell Stokes’ PPG 10.2

80 = TIPPING POINT

¢ In his sixth season as a head coach, Cuonzo Martin’s teams are 26-3 when they score at least 80 points. ¢ UT has scored at least 80 points eight times through 18 games this season. ¢ With an overall scoring offense of 74.8 ppg, this is Martin’s highest-scoring Tennessee team (66.3 ppg in 2013, 68.6 ppg in 2012).

OBEY THE SCORING LIMIT: 70

¢ Only four Tennessee opponents have scored more than 67 points against the Vols this season (UTEP 78, Wichita State 70, Kentucky 74 and Arkansas 74). ¢ Uncharacteristically, Tennessee has surrendered 74 points in each of its last two games. ¢ UT’s scoring defense stands at 63.3 ppg.

¢ Freshman guard Robert Hubbs III had seasonending surgery on his left shoulder Jan. 14. ¢ A native of Newbern, Tenn., Hubbs was hampered all season by the injury, which dates to last winter when he was a senior in high school. He wore a soft brace during all of UT’s games and practices this season. ¢ Hubbs appeared in 12 contests for the Vols, averaging 5.0 points and 1.5 rebounds in 18.3 minutes off the bench.

The Vols have produced three plays this season that have landed on ESPN SportsCenter’s Top Plays.

¢ Tennessee posted a 2-1 record and a fifth-place finish at the 2013 Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in Paradise Island, Bahamas Nov. 28-30. ¢ The Vols fell to UTEP in the first round before notching big wins over Xavier and Wake Forest. ¢ UT played three games in three days, and forward Jarnell Stokes logged three straight double-doubles, averaging 18.0 points and 11.3 rebounds at the event.

No. 5 Play - Jordan McRae driving one-handed slam dunk at Wichita State (12/14/13)

During his 20-point, 15-rebound effort at Kentucky Jan. 18, Jarnell Stokes was “trending” worldwide.
