TOWER IN CITY CENTER Matteo Giovanardi has turned his former home—the second-highest of Bologna's famous medieval towers—into a one-bedroom romantic hideaway.

“A cosy tower for 2”

Following extensive restoration, all 12 floors of this 12th century tower, standing 65 metres high are accessible, including a roof terrace offering breathtaking views across the Old Town. Even the original wall graffiti of the prison cells at the foot of the tower has been preserved! Much in demand (from locals as well as visitors) for surprise birthday and anniversary treats - book early for favourite dates! Although the restored staircases are steep, a handrail guides you and nothing more than sure footing is required to reach the top. The main living and sleeping area, lounge etc. are housed on the second and third floors, in an elegant old-world space with vaulted ceilings, furnished with family heirlooms. Above this is a kitchen, where guests fix themselves a self-service breakfast, and a dining room where candlelit dinners can be arranged— accompanied, should you so desire, by a string quartet or medieval-style minstrels.

You are at the very heart of Bologna old town, with cheerful, busy streets and the hustle and bustle of this major regional hub. Take the time however, to check out the tiny streets surrounding the tower as they are filled with shops and small treasures of tradition.
