helped convene and are active in the committees of the Southeastern Massachusetts Council on Sustainability (SEMCOS). We were the first to chair the CONNECT Sustainability Task Force that brings together several of our region’s colleges to work on sustainability education. Ours is the first Office of Sustainability in the five-campus University of Massachusetts system, and our University is the first in the state to offer a Minor in Sustainability Studies. We are also in the process of engaging faculty in considering the curriculum and content of potential degrees at the Master’s and Doctoral levels for this new and important field. We invite you to read our first assessment for a look at how this University is working to bring sustainability into the vocabulary, values and mindsets of our on-campus and regional communities. We remind you that this is a work in progress, we recognize that we have more to do, but we hope you will be inspired to learn more yourselves and to participate in efforts to live green.
