When as a class of thirty-five the present sophomores graduated from the preparatory department it was said open ly by the faculty that it was the brightes~ and best class that had ever stepped out from that schooL As preps they had won honors both on the athletic field and in the class room. During the three years in prepdom all of the presidents of the preparatory department were t>lecteq from that class. In 1904 the number of this stalwart body of new freshmen was increased to seventy, all of them boys and girls who had the inter~st of the U niversity a:i heart and who would throw aside personal preference for the general uplifting of the institution. At the present time our class numbers fifty. In the past two years of college life our class has identified itself with every enterprise in the college and our record is a source of pride not only to the class but to our institution. In 1904 five of our men played on the Yarsity football team, three of them making the "All Northwest Team." In 1905 we had two players on the first team and they were a host. :Middleton, '07, is the captain elect for 1905. Seven of the class won their Varsity Baseball "f' in 1904- and this year's captain of the Varsity
