BENCH STRENGTH: In UConn’s first seven games of the 2013-14 season, the Huskies are averaging 24.9 points per game off the bench, including a season-high 47 against Detroit. In 30 games last season, the most points the Huskies got from their bench players was 25, against Wake Forest on Nov. 16, 2012. UConn only reached 20 points from its reserves in one other game last year, when the bench scored 20 against Villanova on Feb. 16, 2013. In this season’s first seven games, the top scorer off the bench is senior Niels Giffey, averaging 9.7 ppg. Grad student Lasan Kromah is averaging 5.6 ppg, while freshman Amidah Brimah is averaging 3.3 ppg and senior Tyler Olander is averaing 3.1 ppg. ALL-TIME LISTS: With 4 points against Loyola, UConn senior Shabazz Napier now has 1,344 career points, and has moved up to No. 23 on the Huskies’ all-time scoring list. No. 22 on the list is Toby Kimball with 1,361 points. Napier also had 7 assists against Loyola, upping his career total to 494 assists, No. 8 in that category. Tied for No. 6 are Ricky Moore and Marcus Williams, each with 510. Taliek Brown is UConn’s all-time assist leader with 722. With 6 more assists, Napier will become only the fourth player in UConn history with 1,000 points and 500 assists (Doron Sheffer, Tate George, Taliek Brown). CONSECUTIVE GAMES: UConn junior Ryan Boatright owns the longest current streak of games played by a UConn player with 52 straight games. PERCENTAGE LEADER: With 27 wins in his first 37 games as head coach, Kevin Ollie’s .730 winning percentage is the highest of any coach in UConn history who coached more than 20 games.
