ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE In addition to excelling on the course, men’s golfers at UCF are also succeeding in the classroom. Last year, six members of the team were named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. UCF student-athletes are supported by a nine-person professional staff of advisors and program coordinators from the Office of Academic Services for Student-Athletes (ASSA). The ASSA mission is to support student-athletes’ academic development while exceeding satisfactory progress toward their degrees. ASSA advisors coordinate tutoring, mentoring, study sessions, and priority class registration for all current student-athletes and assist new Knights through the recruitment process. UCF student-athletes receive specific academic and athletic information at orientation as well as study skills and time management instruction throughout the year. More than 50 computers are available for student-athlete’s use anytime during the academic year. During the 2008-09 academic year, UCF placed a league-record 224 student-athletes on the conference academic honor roll.

MAKING THE LIST In the last two years, 11 different UCF men’s golfers have been named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll. Simon Ward was one of the Knights recognized in 2008-09.

HITTING THE BOOKS The men’s golf team was recognized in 2008-09 for having the top grade point average of any men’s program at UCF. The team was honored for its accomplishments in the classroom during UCF’s annual all-sports banquet at the UCF Arena.
