Media Information The 2012 UAB Softball Media Guide was assembled in an effort to assist you in your coverage of the Blazer softball team. We have tried to anticipate many of your questions and needs and hope that the answers may easily be found within in the following pages. Gameday Services Game programs, including rosters, statistics and game notes, will be available to the working media no less than an hour before every home game. Complete game statistics will be available after the conclusion of each game. Telephones and a fax machine will be made available for use in the Athletic Media Relations Office.
Covering Practice Practice is open to the media. The Blazers will practice at UAB Softball Field, located off of 11th Street South, just past the baseball field. Members of the media are asked to please notify Lauren Rupert in the media relations department if you are planning to attend practice.
Post-game Interviews Coaches and players will be made available for interviews after a customary 10-15 minute “cooling-off period” following the conclusion of the contest. Requests for interviews will be taken by a member of the media relations staff before the conclusion of the game. If you wish to conduct an interview between games of a doubleheader please notify Lauren Rupert prior to the beginning of the first game. Opposing player/coach interviews are subject to policy of the visiting SID.
Interviews Blazer head coach Marla Townsend, her staff and players, are available for interviews in person, or with prior arrangement, by telephone. The best time to conduct interviews is 10-15 minutes prior to the start of practice, or as players are leaving the field. All requests to interview coaches or players should be directed to media relations assistant Lauren Rupert. Interviews should be arranged no less than 24 hours in advance. Per athletic department policy, the Media Relations Office does not release telephone numbers
