Lowman Delivers Keynote Address
John Lowman, PT, PhD, CCS
John Lowman, PT, PhD, CCS, UAB Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy, delivered the keynote address at the 2014 Recognition Ceremony for Clinical Specialists of the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (ABPTS). The event is also the opening ceremonies for the APTA Combined Sections Meeting. Dr. Lowman’s keynote address was titled “Improving the Human Experience through Heroic Leadership.” Dr. Lowman is the immediate past-Chair of the ABPTS. Graham Receives Two Honors January proved to be a very good month for Cecilia Graham, PT, PhD, UAB Associate Professor of Physical Therapy. Dr. Graham was named the 2015 recipient of the APTA Section on Education’s Cerasoli Lectureship Award. The Award was created to acknowledge an individual who has distinguished himself/herself as an educator, administrator, practitioner and/or mentor. Selection criteria for the award include: 1) Leadership role in the academy of higher education; 2) Service to the profession in various capacities; 3) Vision and insight regarding the profession of physical therapy and the implications for the future of physical therapy education; 4) High regard from peers; and 5) Ability to present a compelling lecture at acceptance of award. Dr. Graham will deliver the 2015 Cerasoli Lecture in February, 2015 at the APTA Combined Sections Meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Graham also found out that she was named the Distinguished Alumnus for the School of Health Professions (SHP) at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). The award is intended to honor alumni who have made major contributions to the health profession through a commitment to excellence in patient care, research, publications, education, community service and/or leadership roles. The Distinguished Alumnus is honored at the annual Homecoming event and is eligible to be Keynote Speaker for the SHP Commencement Ceremony.
