TSU SPORTS MEDICINE Athletic Training/Sports Medicine A team of full-time athletic trainers are on staff to provide daily treatment and application of therapeutic modalities to the student-athletes and are led by head athletic trainer, Monroe Abram. The athletic training staff is also available to provide evaluation, information on injury prevention and to administer rehabilitation, if necessary. The TSU athletic medical services are provided by team orthopedist Rob Dyer of Tennessee Orthopedic Alliance. TOA provides the TSU athletic department all sports medicine related services, including surgery and diagnostic testing. Dr. Harvey Bowles serves as the team physician. Mission Statement It is the mission of the Tennessee State University Sports Medicine Staff to provide each student-athlete with the opportunity to perform at the highest possible level throughout his or her career. We strive to provide the most efficient and effective care available to help prevent, manage, and treat athletic related injuries in conjunction with the Administration, the Coaching Staff, and the athletes themselves. Our methods are based on sound medical and rehabilitative principles in conjunction with consideration for personal and team goals. These guidelines are based on those outlined by the NCAA and on ethical medical practice. We are committed to providing professional and proficient care for all those in our charge.
