If you are interested in working on projects to increase physical activity and healthy eating in Polk County, you are encouraged to attend the Polk Fit meeting Tuesday, Jan. 10. The meeting will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at the downstairs meeting room of the Cooperative Extension Service in Columbus.

Here’s a list of upcoming meetings and events for area nonprofit community and governmental organizations:

‘Welcome to Polk County’ video premieres at county commissioners’ meeting today by Samantha Hurst

Those attending the Polk County Board of Commissioners meeting Monday, Jan. 9 will witness a premiere of the new “Welcome to Polk County” video. The video touts Polk County as a great place to live and work, said Polk County Economic Development and Tourism Director Libbie Johnson.

“The video project was recently completed and shows off the county’s natural resources, entrepreneurial pride, school and hospital systems and tourism events, as well as highlighting the area’s quality of life,” Johnson said. The 7-minute video was pro(Continued on page 3)
