This year Bishops Park launched London’s only urban beach, an idea that grew from the park’s Edwardian history. Families across the Capital used to come down to ‘Margate Sands’ in Bishops Park every summer, and now Hammersmith and Fulham Council have reopened the urban beach to give families a day at the seaside without leaving the borough. n Bishops Park, Bishop’s Avenue, SW6 6SX. The Science Museum and Natural History Museum, with their interactive displays and kids’ zones, are great for keeping energetic youngsters entertained (see the Museums and Galleries section on pages 10 and 11). If they’re still full of beans, a run around the Diana Memorial Playground (see page 9) and its Peter Pan themed play areas should while away an afternoon. Nearby Hyde Park also has endless family activities such as boating, cycling and games in the park.
