WHAT ARE PERFORMANCE FABRICS? This year, Aussie Pacific has introduced a new fabric called Cotton Backed Polyester which has been specially knitted where the outer layer is polyester (80%) and the layer against your skin is cotton (20%). Performance fabrics like this create a cool, dry comfortable garment in both high exertion and or high climate living because of the soft feel of cotton on your body. The unique yarn used in the manufacture of Aussie Pacific ranges actively wick away perspiration from your skin through the fabric to the outer surface by spreading moisture from fibre to fibre with what’s called capillary action.
This was developed as a five sided yarn that is knitted to allow a circulation of air that takes away any moisture that is drawn off the skin and through the fabric. These performance fabric garments can stand up to regular washing for years without losing their anti-bacterial attributes, shape, colour or durability. Unlike traditional cotton fibre that absorbs moisture, our micro-constructed yarn bulks up when exposed to moisture and quickly dry when exposed to air through evaporation, by the movement of air across the body. The Aussie Pacific has an anti-bacterial
treatment on the yarn to keep your garment fresh. Other shirts have an anti-bacterial treatment sprayed on after construction which soon becomes ineffective while the Aussie Pacific garments, because the yarn is treated, stays fresh. fabrics have a unique fibre construction which is lightweight and highly breathable. Because it is a yarn and not a material, it can be knitted into various forms such as mini-waffle, pique knit, micro-mesh, herringbone, waffle and jersey etc. etc.

Aussie Pacific realise that you may want something that is different to an ‘off the shelf’ garment, you may want to reverse the colour combinations, add a colour to a panel or piping or have the item arrive already embroidered/printed (over 250 pieces) and packaged. Aussie Pacific performance fabric breathes like cotton, is quick drying and has antibacterial properties which makes it cool and comfortable to wear all year round. Aussie Pacific’s is woven from antibacterial treated yarn instead of whole cloth. What this means is that the garment will retain it’s freshness for the life of the product and will not retain body odour as a garment that is not treated in this way would. Other moisture-wicking fabrics are produced by applying chemical wicking treatments to whole cloth. Aussie Pacific’s is not a fabric as such, but an anti-bacterial treated yarn to make sure you stay fresh and dry. The anti-bacterial treatment ensures that this garment will stay fresh for the life of the garment and not retain the body odours rendering the garment virtually unwearable. The yarn can be knitted into various forms such as mini-waffle and pique knit with mini-waffle used extensively in this product range. The unique fibre construction makes it lightweight and highly breathable as the micro-construction causes yarn to bulk up when exposed to moisture and dry quickly when exposed to air. Cotton on the other hand absorbs moisture into the fibre whereas facilitates the moisture wicking properties by using a capillary action. Moisture is wicked away from the skin to the outer surface spreading moisture from fibre to fibre when woven together in cross sections allows air to flow through the fabric. This yarn has the ability to move moisture and speed up evaporation which is crucial to keeping your body dry and comfortable. It is important as the body works up a sweat, the moisture is transported away from the skin to the surface of the garment where it can evaporate quickly
with the movement of air around and across your body. Due to the composition of the fabric, our garments retain their colour and their shape. It’s the moisture evaporation that is needed to stay dry and comfortable. COTTON BACKED DriWear™ Introduced in 2012, this new Aussie Pacific fabric combines the performance features of with the fine feel of cotton. This new fabric is a pique knit and features the polyester on the fabric outer and cotton on your skin for total comfort. Cotton purists can now have the best of both worlds with both moisture management and feel and it’s the performance fabric’s moisture evaporation that is needed to stay dry and comfortable. PERFORMANCE FABRICS Performance Fabrics decrease exertion by increasing hydration and by maintaining body temperature. These fabrics are made for a variety of end-use applications, which provide functional qualities, such as moisture management, UV protection, anti-microbial, thermo-regulation, and wind/water resistance. Despite the advancements in fibre and fabric design, these garments are easily washable. These performance fabric garments can stand up to regular washing for years without losing their anti-bacterial attributes, shape, colour or durability. The backbone of the Aussie Pacific’s performance range is mini-waffle which is made of polyester moisture removal fabric . Mini-Waffle weave fabric is a woven fabric with a recessed square pattern with the raised edges around the recessed squares giving the pattern the look of the breakfast food called waffles. .

Fine gauge waffle weave material contains tiny squares and the fabric is usually lightweight. The Reef Polo is a blend that cleverly marries and Cotton into a single fabric giving the wearer the benefit of 60% Cotton and 40% in a pique knit (a knitting method that creates a fine textured surface that appears similar to a birds nest or waffle weave). Using the pique knit, the new Paterson Polo range cleverly combines the polyester fabric outer and the fine feel of soft cotton on your skin for total comfort. The cotton absorbs moisture from the skin where the technology facilitates the moisture wicking properties by using a capillary action. POLYESTER This man-made fibre was introduced in the early 1950s, and is the most commonly used manufactured fibre worldwide. The fibre-forming substance in polyester is any long chain, synthetic polymer. Polyester has high strength (although somewhat lower than nylon), excellent resiliency, has high abrasion resistance, and resists shrinking, stretching and wrinkles. Polyester’s low absorbency allows the fibre to dry quickly and combined with the moisture wicking anti-bacterial yarn features ensures a dry comfortable sanitised garment. BE WARNED Contrary to some belief, not all Cool Dry® garments are anti-bacterial treated and whilst most still perform moisture removal actions, the less expensive garments retain body odours rendering them unwearable in only a few months. Sublimation refers to changes from the solid, to the gaseous state without becoming liquid. The basic dye sublimation process uses special heat-sensitive dyes to print graphics and text onto special transfer paper which is then placed on white polyester fabric and both are placed into a heat press. When the heating cycle is completed, the ink image on the paper has been turned to gas and transferred

At Aussie Pacific, we take our responsibility to the nation with UPF rated and compliant fabric cover. When the UV Index reaches 3 and above, you should use a combination of these Five steps to protect against sun damage: SLIP ON some sun-protective clothing that covers as much skin as possible. Slop on SPF30+ sunscreen – make sure it is broad spectrum and water resistant. Apply 20 minutes before you go outdoors and reapply every two hours. Slap on a hat that protects your face,

head, neck and ears. Slide on some sunglasses – make sure they meet Australian Standards.

As you will see from the table below, the bulk of our fabrics colours are in the ‘Excellent Protection’ category as tested to comply with AS/NZS 4399:1996 You can rely on our garments to carry a minimum of a rating 30 (very good) to a 50+ rating of excellent protection. If you are outdoors working or playing sport
then you can rest assured that our garments are protecting your skin from those harsh rays even if the sun isn’t shining. Polyester contains an ester(benzene) ring that absorbs UV light. Factors that affect the level of sun protection provided by a fabric, in approximate order of importance, include weave, colour, weight, stretch, and wetness. The more open/less dense the fabric, the worse the protection and the darker the colour, the more dye, the better the protection. Getting a fabric wet reduces the protection as much as half.

Accredited (ISO 9001) which is an international standard that gives requirements for an organisation’s quality management system (QMS). Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR, also called corporate conscience, social performance, or sustainable responsible business) is a form of corporate self-regulation integrated into a business model. Aussie Pacific’s CSR policy functions as a built-in, self-regulating mechanism whereby we monitor and ensure active compliance with the spirit of the law and ethical standards (which includes no child or forced labour and the freedom to come and go).
The goal of Aussie Pacific’s CSR is to embrace responsibility for the company’s actions and encourage a positive impact through our activities on the environment, our consumers, our employee communities, our stakeholders and all of our valuable clients. Social Responsibility as a non-binding or soft law principle has received some normative status in relation to the private and public corporations sector particularly in relation to child and maternal welfare. The objective is to provide a set of requirements that, if effectively implemented, will provide you with confidence that we can consistently
provide goods and services that meet your needs and expectations and comply with applicable regulations. Aussie Pacific does this in a well managed and well run factory that also makes some of the large global labels that you most likely own. Our factory ‘ticks all of the boxes’ for global corporations large and small who do not under estimate the power of Corporate Social Responsibility! Many Chinese factories lose up to a third of their workforce annually after the Chinese New Year celebrations preferring to stay in their regional areas.
As a sign of confidence for you, the Aussie Pacific factory retains their workforce year after year which means that everything possible is done for the rights and entitlements of their workers. This includes factory sponsored sporting teams, a company cafeteria, air conditioned dormitories and recreational facilities. Aussie Pacific is an Australian owned and operated company with ownership of their factory in China. We believe in what we do and how we do things, we live by our Mission Statement.
