High atop Manhattan Island, The Cloisters house the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s collection of approximately five thousand works of art and architecture from medieval Europe. Best known for the beautiful tapestries and stained-glass windows on display, The Cloisters also offer architectural installations and fantastic views of the Hudson River. We will take a special guided tour of this remarkable institution. You’ll also stroll Fort Tryon Park, the former site of an American Revolutionary fort, and later the summer estate of newspaper publisher James Gordon Bennett. Later, take a driving tour of the interesting Washington Heights neighborhood. Lunch will be at Bette Midler’s popular new restaurant, New Leaf Café, where all restaurant profits go toward restoring New York City parks!
