collect data to document whale distribution, feeding and behavioral patterns. Hands-on experience using onboard marine biology equipment helps unveil the powerful and endangered processes of life in the sea. Campers explore beaches, coastal trails and fishing villages and investigate life in the tidal pools and bogs. Whale Camp takes students out to sea three days each week to directly encounter the whales and other marine life for an amazing marine science experience. Whale Camp is a place where inspiration, exploration and discovery abound.

$40,000 College Scholarships Awarded

n recognition of the value of Whale Camp programs at the Fundy Marine Science Institute, the College of the Atlantic is offering scholarships of $40,000 over four years to any Whale Camp alumni recommended by its Director. The College of the Atlantic is a renowned Liberal Arts college located on Mount Desert Island, Maine, home to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park on the coast of the Gulf of Maine. COA is an innovative institution, whose primary focus is the relationships between humans and the environment and is part of the Eco-League of colleges. Whale Camp programs prepare students with a solid background in the marine sciences and a deeper understanding of Human Ecology. Of all marine science programs, Whale Campers have far more face-to-face encounters to closely observe and study whales, dolphins, porpoises, seals and puffins in their own natural habitat. Landon in Summer

ow in its 75th year, Landon in Summer offers a huge range of fun and educational programs for girls and boys ages 3 ½-17. Highlights include traditional Day Camps for girls, boys and preschoolers that make use of Landon’s 75-acre campus, air-conditioned buildings, outdoor pool and sports fields. Sports Camps allow everyone, from beginners to future Hall of Famers, to improve their skills. Programs include baseball, basketball, lacrosse, tennis and general sports. Music and Arts Camps provide opportunities for intensive creative experiences, many led by members of the Landon faculty. For
