The couple met at their alma mater, the University of Maryland in College Park. The bride-to-be received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry and works for the United States Environmental Protection Agency. The prospective groom received his master’s degree in biochemistry and is currently working for the United States Patent and Trademark Office. An April 2014 wedding is planned on the Chesapeake Bay in Rose Haven. The couple will reside in Derwood.

She is currently a Research Specialist at Advanced BioScience Laboratories in Rockville. The prospective groom, a 2010 Sherwood High School alum, is currently a senior at Auburn University in Alabama. In May he will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in political science (international relations) and will be commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.
