Members of the Hungerford’s Tavern chapter in Potomac assembled an educational display at the library for the 226th anniversary of the document’s 1787 signing and for Constitution Week, which started Tuesday and runs through Monday. The display is dominated by a poster of President James Madison and the preamble to the Constitution. The display also includes a proclamation signed by Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett (D). “Liberty is a blessing that must be constantly nurtured,” the proclamation reads. Staff at the Gaithersburg library have selected related books, as part of the display, that patrons may check out, said Kathryn George, the DAR chapter’s Constitution Week chairwoman. According to George, the chapter has provided the display for years, and county executives have issued proclamations to stand with them. The display at the Quince Orchard library is “a continuing message” of dedication to the Constitution’s values, George said. The DAR display will be in the library until the end of September.
