THURSDAY Black Mountain Church hosts rummage sale Black Mountain United Church of Christ,will hold their annual Spring rummage sale from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Thursday and Friday and from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m., Saturday in Scottsdale. Proceeds go to support the missions of the church. The church is located at 30600 N. Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale. Arizona Opera performs at MIM The Marriage of Figaro will share the spotlight for a 7 p.m., Thursday performance at the Musical Instrument Museum. The show, a collection of debuts and accolades spanning the globe, will include the quartet performing their signature operatic roles and other selections from various generes. The show features Sari Gruber, Joelle Harvey, Jason Hardy and Daniel Okulitch with Arizona Opera Head of Music Allen Periello on piano. Tickets range in price from $37.50 - $42.50. Musicfest hosts putting contest at Desert Highland The Arizona Musicfest Putting Tournament for Scholarships will take place at 2:30 p.m., Thursday at the Desert Highlands Golf Club. The extensive (par 41) putting course features more than 60,000 square feet of putting surface. The entrance fee includes great prizes, the Holein-One Challenge, mulligans, the Clubhouse Party and more. Participants need to bring their putter. Interested golfers may sign up as an individual and Arizona Musicfest will pair participants. They can also sign

up as a twosome, threesome or foursome. Registration begins at 1:30p.m. with a shotgun start at 2:30 p.m. The tournament, which sold out last year, is limited to the first 80 who sign up. A clubhouse party will follow at 5 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres, wine, music, an auction and more. Registration is $100 for the tournament and party, or $40 for only the party. SATURDAY New River restaurant hosts chili cookoff, state hot wing contest The Station in New River will host their 2nd annual Chili Cook-Off from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Saturday. In addition to the 2nd annual Chili Cook-off at The Station there will be a hot wing contest, People’s Choice Chili and a salsa contest. A showmanship contest in which contestants are encouraged to dress up and act foolishly is also part of the festivities. Festivities will include a 50/50 raffle and entertainment and Cow Pie Bingo. Admission is free, tasting cups are $5 for all day tasting or at least until the chili is gone. All proceeds benefit Tyler Hallsey, an Anthem youth battling a brain tumor.
