TALKING POINT : ALMONDS AND ACTING

Q&A

SARA FARAH Meet the pint-sized creative who on stage plays a part in the much-anticipated Love, Loss and What I Wore and behind the scenes is a wedding registry entrepreneur. The Cash Collective has the full story...

Tell us about your wedding registry, White Almonds? White Almonds is an online wedding gift registry that offers a unique service for the bride and groom including paperless thank you cards. Then with the White Almonds Debit Card guests can gift the couple easily and quickly. The credit can be used at any of our partner stores for travel, art, furniture, electronics, kitchen appliances, garden accessories and furniture in addition to our beautiful showroom that showcases over 30 tabletop and decorative home brands. As a female entrepreneur what piece of advice would you want to pass on? If you have an idea or have a desire to do something, do it! Never be frightened. What three items can’t you travel without? My Anya Hindmarch travel bags that keep me organised, tidy and they’re all in the same colour, a pair of comfortable flats is always a must and a messenger bag – I love the Chanel ones. What inspires you? In life I love to meet interesting and talented people who inspire me. I recently met the wonderfully creative and cool designer Mathew Williamson in his store in London and he styled and advised me. It was a lot of fun.

Who’s your idol and why? Without a doubt the old school Hollywood icons such as Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. They had such talent, style, elegance and grace – that is rare to find these days. Cate Blanchett is someone whom I think still posses those traits I aspire to. She is amazing. I am utterly in awe of her talent. Most embarrassing moment on stage? I was doing a play in London, in a tiny fringe theatre and the ceiling caved in with a downpour of water on to the front row. Trying not to be distracted and not to laugh was quite tough! What’s next for you? I am so excited to get back on stage for the upcoming production of Love, Loss and What I Wore by Delia and Nora Ephron. The play, which was a huge hit in New York, seeks to illuminate the female identity using the wardrobe throughout as a metaphor of the female figure. It’s a play that everyone can relate to, men included. As for White Almonds, I have plenty of exciting plans for a possible expansion and a sister company.
