The word “Facetious” is defined as the act of treating serious issues with deliberate inappropriate humor, so I can see where it can strike a rather visceral reaction. It ’s this particular trait that I happen to enjoy in music if the artist is able to do it correctly without coming off as condescending or just down right mean. Rappers such as Redman, Ludacris and even early Eminem come to mind when it comes to having this quality and giving it a mass appeal. Needless to say, I was sent the link to an album with the name Facetious by 5ve & Gadjet.

With an album carrying that name my expectations were to be humored, possibly offended and entertained overall. The title track kicks off with a good energy as 5ve’s verses show a comfortable delivery coupled with a few punchlines that are worth a playback. The song “Strange Ways” almost comes off as a satirical spin on modernizing doo -wop in it ’s chorus as 5ve states: “It's nice to meet you, hello my name's Quinn, I'm here to teach you that 5ve is you're friend.“

Getting Twisted Insane article by Jhantu Randall

Back in February I had bought ticke ts to a show being headlined by San Diego native , Twis ted Ins ane. I’ve always been a fan of double time rhymers, choppers , and any quick cadence in -between. Being a lis tener of groups like Do or Die or artists like Twis ta , I was always impres s ed by the speed in which they flowed. From there I was drawn to Tech N9ne which I bring up for a couple of reasons, first off being given the opportunity to get in to cover that show by Lez errick Holiday of 03 Ent. lead to the platforms I now have. In addition to that, it was through Tech N9ne’s s ong “World Wide Choppers” that I was first introduced to the s ound of Twis ted Insane, and with 03 Entertainment and Yahhh Music, started by Taz z Jones and Fas a Labree promoting and performing, this article feels as if s omething has come full circle. Returning to Frankie’s Sport’s bar in Olympia, I was actually excited to return to the place tha t kicked off my New Year. Walking in, the show was already kicking off with DJ Es kro on the turn tables as an artis t who goes by the name of “The Message” was performing. I was drawn not only to his words but the songs thems elves . I could feel his pain and his journey through almos t every rhyme. Afte r immediately being

greeted by George Kus h, he informed me that The Mes s age was a military man which only added more gravi ty to the words he s pit for us all to hear. Following his was David Kits ch who I had s een a few times before and thoroughl y enjoyed. His energy and interaction with the crowd is always a welcomed part of his s ets . Fasa Labree came up next, repres enting Yahhh Music she jumped right in to some of her current s ongs which can be found on her s ound cloud. With this new emergence of R&B it’s exciting to s ee s omeone on a local level really appreciate the craft while at the s ame time, s howing why s he’s one to pay atten tion to. After putting the crowd into almos t a trance like s tate with her vocals , s he premiered a new s ong. While the name of it s lips my mind, I will s ay that after s he was done s he had the crowd s creaming for an encore! Afte r acknowledging the crowd, s he fulfilled their wis hes by s inging an impromptu s ong in acapella.

Next up was George Kus h who…
