Anthony WILLIAMS
William joined his brother, Charlie, on the Golden Eagle roster in 2010 but did not see any action as he spent his first season as a redshirt...has worked his way to the top of the depth chart at tight end and will see action in 2011...it will be the first time that William and Charlie have had the opportunity to play together on the same team...brings good size and strength to his position.
Anthony comes off a redshirt season as he heads into the 2011 campaign, and hopes he can contribute as a wide receiver in Tech’s fast-paced attack...a rangy player with good speed and soft hands...spent his first season on the roster working hard in the weight room to develop his strength and quickness... named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll in spring semester.
AT TECH (In 2010): A redshirt in his first season on the Golden Eagle roster... worked on the scout teams.
HIGH SCHOOL: Anthony played two seasons under coach Dickie Brown at York Institute in Jamestown...a versatile payer, he spent time as a wide receiver and cornerback, and also returned kicks and punts...helped the team to a 10-4 record as a senior and the state 3A semifinals...was a prep teammate of Matt Brown...voted Return Specialist of the Year in the region...named first-team All-Upper Cumberand Team...as a senior he grabbed 40 passes for 700 yards and seven touchdowns...on defense he made seven interceptions and 56 total tackles...averaged 31 yards per kick return and 21 yards every time he brought back a punt...also letterd four years on the basketball team and four on the baseball team.
HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year letterman and two-year starter for coach Glenn McAdams at Lipscomb High School...was on the freshman team when his brother, Charlie, was a senior on the varsity so they never got the chance to play in a game together...played defensive end, linebacker and tight end, earning recognition on both sides of scrimmage...named all-region on defense as a junior, then earned all-state as a senior tight end...helped team reach the TSSAA Class 4A playoffs as a sophomore, and state semifinals as a junior...team achieved the second round of the playoffs as a senior...also lettered three years in wrestling, reaching the state meet as a junior...competed in the shot put four years on the track & field team. PERSONAL: The son of Eric and Marlese Stevens...younger brother of Golden Eagle senior Charlie Stevens...full name is William Hayden Stevens...birthdate is March 11, 1992...studying mechanical engineering.
