u Defensive Line u 6-/ 285 u RS - Freshman u Greeneville, Tenn. u Greeneville High School Terrell was included on the long list of injured players who sat out the 2012 season as medical redshirts...had shown great promise in his first fall camp and was expected to play as a true freshman...got onto the field for the North Greenville game and made a tackle, but that was the end of the line...comes into 2013 with a year of experience and four years remaining of eligibility...listed third on the depth chart (behind two seniors) at the “anchor” defensive tackle position in the middle of the defensive line. AT TECH (IN 2012): Terrell played in the Sept. 6 match-up against North Greenville and made one tackle...moved into a redshirt role for the remainder of the season. IN HIGH SCHOOL: A two-time state champion at Greeneville High School, Terrell was named the Knoxville News Sentinel’s PrepXtra Defensive Player of the Year...was a major part of the “Golden Age” of football for the Greene Devils with a combined, four-year 51-8 record... helped coach Caine Ballard’s team to the TSSAA state playoffs all four years...after losing the Class 4A championship game in 2009, they came back to clinch the crown on Tech’s Overall Field in 2010 and 2011..as a senior, he recorded 102 total tackles including 23 tacklesfor-loss and had 7.5 quarterback sacks...won the Class AA Mr. Football Lineman award and was the defensive MVP of the state title game... Terrell was also named the Greeneville Sun Defensive Player of the Year, TSWA All-State twice and earned a spot on the Murphy Fair AllState team the past two years. u Linebacker u 6-0 / 230 u Sophomore u Ooltewah, Tenn. u Ooltewah High School Jay flashed onto the scene with six tackles in his first college game, but struggled the balance of the season to stay healthy...in-and-out of the lineup for much of the year...kept his focus in the weight room and returns to the field healthy and ready to make a major impact in the Golden Eagle defense...listed second at the “renegade” linebacker position heading into fall camp...made the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll in the fall of 2012. AT TECH (IN 2012): Jay played in eight games for the Golden Eagles... opened his career with six tackles in the season opener against Hampton...had tackles in his first five games but was in-and-out of the lineup over the final seven games of the year...made 13 total tackles. IN HIGH SCHOOL: Jay received a lengthy list of post-season honors following his senior season for coach Shannon Williams and the Ooltewah High School Owls...named Tennessee Sports Writer’s Association All-State and District 5AAA Defensive Player of the Year... versatile athlete, he lettered three years on the gridiron as well as earning all-state honors in wrestling...school record-holder for most tackles in a game (30) and most tackles in a season (171)...named his team’s Defensive Player of the Year and was a Chattanooga Times Free Press first-team Best of Preps pick...helped the Owls to the second round of the TSSAA playoffs after capturing the District 5AAA title... in addition to his 171 total tackles, he also piled up 16 tackles-for-loss and had one interception (returned for touchdown), caused a fumble and recovered a fumble....started 33 consecutive games and finished with 351 total tackles.
