The Tehachapi Heritage League is sponsoring its first field trip of the fall season on Sunday, Oct. 6. The participants will car pool to the Kern Valley Museum and Native American Center in Kernville. Participants are asked to meet in front of the Tehachapi Museum, 310 S. Green St., at 8:30 a.m. The group will travel to Kernville via the Lion's trail route. This is a very curvy road and may not be suitable for all drivers, in which case Highway 178 is recommended. The tentative schedule is to tour the museum

from 10:15 a.m. until noon; eat lunch and socialize from noon until 1:30 p.m. We should then be at the Native American Center at 1:30 p.m. and leaving at 2:30 p.m. You may bring a lunch, as there is a nice place to eat along the Kern River. There is also a nice restaurant close by for those who prefer to eat inside. There is no admission charge, but donations are gladly accepted. Reservations are required by Oct. 3. Call the Museum during museum hours, 8228152, or for more information, call Harold at 823-8038.

BY LANCASTER PERFORMING ARTS CENTER The nationally and critically acclaimed touring troupe, The Acting Company, will bring “Hamlet” to the Lancaster Performing Arts Center on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 3 p.m. “Hamlet” was considered to be one of Shakespeare's most popular works during his lifetime and while it ranks among one of his most-performed works, this will be the first production of “Hamlet” by The Acting Company in its 40-year history. Set in the Kingdom of Denmark, the play drama-

tizes the revenge Prince Hamlet exacts for his father’s murder, setting him on a journey seeking his personal mortality. It vividly portrays overwhelming grief and rage while exploring themes of danger, revenge and moral corruption. “Hamlet” is among Shakespeare's most powerful and influential tragedies. Many believe “Hamlet” is the best Shakespearean work, certainly one of his most wellknown and oft-quoted, and may indeed be the perfect play. Ian Belknap, director for

“Hamlet,” as well as The Acting Company’s artistic director, previously directed John Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men,” which performed at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center during the 2012/2013 season. Founded in 1972 by producer/director/actor John Houseman and current producing director Margot Harley, with members of the first graduating class of Julliard’s Drama Division, The Acting Company has performed 137 productions for millions of people across 48 states and 10 foreign countries. Their pas-

sion and dedication to the arts has earned the Company a TONY® Honor for Excellence in Theater as well as Obie, Audelco and Los Angeles Critics Circle Awards. Don’t miss the chance to see an off-Broadway show in the Antelope Valley with The Acting Company’s production of “Hamlet” at LPAC. Orchestra seats are available at $29 and $19, while children 12 and younger are $12. Tickets may be purchased online at LPAC.org, by phone at 661-723-5950, or in person at the LPAC Box Office, 750 W. Lancaster Blvd.
