While rehearsing for a speech competition at Killeen High School, Simmons met his now friend and mentor Judge Bill Gibson. It was during that meeting that Simmons decided he wanted to pursue a career in law. “Judge Gibson gave me words of encouragement and kept in touch with me throughout the course of my education.” Simmons received his undergraduate degree from Tarleton State University and his law degree from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston. After serving as an Assistant Attorney General in the United States Virgin Islands and the Army’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps, Simmons decided to focus on starting his own law firm.
