Green Bee Do Your Part Founder Terri Bennett Wins International Award
ormer Emmy-winning meteorologist Terri Bennett has made quite a name for herself in the Charlotte area and beyond as an expert on green living. Bennett is the founder of Do Your Part, a multimedia organization she created to spread the word about practical ways for everyday green living. Recently, the author and entrepreneur added to her list of accolades with a Stevie Award for Female Entrepreneur of the Year, an international award that recognizes top women executives and entrepreneurs. The path from broadcaster to entrepreneur was unexpected for Bennett, who never imagined herself in business. She made the decision after a local news station failed to renew her contract in 2007, and she found herself at a crossroads: She could move her family and continue in broadcasting, or branch out into something new. It turns out Bennett didn’t need a new career, simply a new platform. She found her niche by partnering with environmentally responsible companies to teach green tips and solutions on television stations across the country.
