Fort Worth, Texas (Daniel-Meyer Coliseum) Feb. 9, 2011 FORT WORTH—Hank Thorns scored a career high 21 points and added nine assists, but UNLV shot lights-out from the field to down TCU, 94-79. The Horned Frogs had a solid offensive night, shooting 52.0% from the field and making eight 3-pointers, but it was far from enough to keep up with the pace set by the Runnin’ Rebels. UNLV made 33-of-54 field-goal attempts (61.1%), good for a season-high shooting rate against the Frogs. The squad, which entered the contest shooting under 30 percent from beyond the arc, went 10-for-16 from 3-point range. TCU opened the contest sharp, jumping out to an early 9-0 lead while making its first four field-goal attempts. UNLV quickly regrouped, scoring 29 of the game’s next 39 points to gain a 29-19 advantage. UNLV started the game 4-for-4 from outside, but its hot shooting also included work inside the arc. The squad shot a sizzling 66.7% in the opening stanza. UNLV extended its lead to 20 points in the second half on a basket by Justin Hawkins at the 13:41 mark, but TCU refused to give up. The Frogs went on a 22-8 run midway through the period and cut the deficit to only six points with 7:24 remaining. The Rebels answered to put the Frogs away late. Chace Stanback, who scored a game-high 24 points, made a pair of treys just over a minute apart to extend the lead back to double digits, then added a third inside the final minute to provide the game’s final margin.

Laramie, Wyo. (Arena-Auditorium) Feb. 12, 2011 LARAMIE, Wyo.—Three Horned Frogs scored in double figures, but Wyoming was able to hold off a second-half TCU surge during a 77-67 setback at the Cowboys’ Arena-Auditorium. The game was a sloppy contest, as the two teams combined for 37 turnovers, including 18 by the Frogs. TCU started the game slow, making only 27% of its field goals in the first half before turning its shooting fortunes around after halftime. The Frogs shot nearly 54% after intermission, but the Cowboys matched the squad while outscoring TCU 45-41 in the second half. The Cowboys had one of their top games of the season from behind the arc despite entering the contest ranked next-tolast in the NCAA in 3-point field-goal percentage. The squad made 9-of-25 attempts against the Frogs. Both teams experienced slow starts to the game. While the Frogs struggled with their shot, Wyoming gave away seven turnovers in the first nine minutes. The Cowboys eventually turned a two-point deficit into an 11-point advantage with a 13-0 run midway through the half, as a Cruz jumper put the squad up 20-9 with 8:38 remaining. The Frogs cut the deficit as low as one point midway through the second half, but the squad was never able to pass up the Cowboys. A 15-4 Wyoming run took the lead back to double digits inside the final three minutes, and TCU was unable to climb closer than eight points the remainder of the contest.

FORT WORTH—Colorado State's Andy Ogide scored a game-high 20 points and added eight rebounds to lead the Rams to a 69-55 victory over TCU at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Two Frogs scored in double figures, led by Nikola Cerina and J.R. Cadot with 12 points each. Cerina also totaled a career-high five steals. Hank Thorns added 11 points, eight assists and four steals, while Garlon Green had 10 points with a trio of 3-pointers. Much like in the team’s first matchup this season in Fort Collins, Colorado State attacked the basket all evening, scoring 51 of its 69 points either in the paint or at the free-throw line. TCU was able to force the Rams into 19 turnovers, and the Frogs collected a season-high 13 steals on the evening. TCU scored the opening basket of the second half to climb within one point of the Rams, 26-25, but CSU responded with 15 of the game’s next 19 points in what turned out to be the game’s most crucial stretch. Forward Greg Smith, who went for a double-double featuring 19 points and 10 boards, totaled six of the points, including one last free throw to push the Rams to their largest lead of 14 points at 42-28 with 14:29 remaining. The Frogs twice cut their deficit to eight points or fewer down the stretch but were unable to climb any closer.
