person to murder George Ross and Detective Garda Mary Skehan. There was an objection to bail being granted to O’Flynn. Detective Sgt Lynch said the state was objecting to bail because of the seriousness of the three charges and the nature of the evidence in support of the charges. The detective said that such evidence included the following: Statements made by witnesses; Recordings of conversations prior to garda involvement in the case and following garda involvement in the case; Money being allegedly handed over by

Gary O’Flynn to an undercover member of An Garda Síochána and computer evidence. Det Sgt Lynch said: “My belief is that he was caught red handed — he handed over money to an under cover member of An Garda Síochána.” It is alleged that the individuals named on the charges against Gary O’Flynn are an accountant (Mr Sweeney), a revenue official (Mr Ross) and the leading member of an investigation (Detective Garda Skehan). He has been remanded in custody by Judge Leo Malone, following Inspector Bill Duane’s objection to bail until Wednesday, March 6. He is represented by solicitor Joseph Cuddigan.
