Summer’s coming! Summer is around the corner which hopefully means lots of hot, sunny days! Birch Heath Veterinary Clinic has a number of top tips to help keep your pet safe over the holiday months:-

Prevent heat exhaustion by walking dogs early in the early morning and late in the evening when it is cooler DO NOT leave animals in cars. Vehicles heat up rapidly, even with a window open.

Don’t forget the sun cream! Pets with fine, light or white hair are prone to sunburn, and any bald or thin-haired areas such as noses and ears should be protected with sunblock to prevent skin cancer.

If an animal collapses from heat stroke, move to a shaded area and gently spray with cool water or cover with damp towels, and contact your vet for advice. Watch out for parasites! Check your pets regularly, and keep up to date with routine prevention. Call for advice on the most suitable products for your pet.

If you have any concerns regarding your pet, please do not hesitate to contact Birch Heath Vets for advice on 01829 733777.

Cloudy2Clear Windows – Service With A Smile!

It’s been a crazy few months for Cloudy2Clear Windows. The company which specialises in repairing windows which are steamed up, broken or damaged by replacing the panes – not the frames has grown rapidly as homeowners take advantage of their services. Managing Director Alan Ball feels that it’s all about service. ‘Our product is simple. If your double glazing is misted up we can replace the glass at a fraction of the cost of a new window, in any type of frame, and with a new 5 year guarantee. But it’s not just about saving

people money, although that obviously helps. Many tradespeople have struggled since last year and I honestly feel that during the good times a minority perhaps didn’t focus on customer care as much as they should have done. We make sure we turn up when we say we will, do the job the customer requires and leave their house as clean as a whistle. I often get comments back from customers on how they really didn’t expect that sort of service which, in a way, is very sad for the service industry as a whole.’ Cloudy2Clear service the Tarporley, Tattenhall, Kelsall, Tarvin &

Bunbury areas and Alan is finding that his approach is a major factor in his success. ‘The truth is that it’s not just the personal satisfaction that I get from doing a good job but also it makes good business sense. I get a huge amount of business from friends

and family of people I’ve done work for, which just goes to show how much a little bit of effort is appreciated.’ So, if your windows are steamed up, broken or damaged give Alan a call for a free quotation on 0800 61 21 118 and he’ll be happy to help!

TARPORLEY PARISH COUNCIL NEWSLETTER New Parish Councillor

Defibrillators and CPR in Tarporley

The Parish Council now has its full complement of 12 councilors with the co-option of James Kennedy at their June meeting.

There is interest in increasing the number of Defibrillators in Tarporley. This equipment is vital in saving the lives of those who may be in cardiac or respiratory arrest.

Tarporley Carnival

The use of the defibrillator and the application of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) can give a person life- saving support before the ambulance and paramedics arrive. There are defibrillators located in the Swan Hotel on the High Street and at the High School. More defibrillators in Tarporley would be of great benefit for the residents of the village. With a little training and confidence anyone can use a defib. and apply CPR.

Thanks to the hard work of local volunteers, from the Rotary Club of Tarporley and the Tarporley 41 Club, this event will take place on Saturday July 11th with the parade along the High Street (starting at 12.30 pm) followed by the main event on the field behind the Community Centre. Please come and see us at the Parish Council stall with any issues and questions you may have about living in the village and about our Draft Neighbourhood Plan. Illegal Parking in Tarporley The Parish Council are concerned about the number of people who park on double yellow lines and on the zic zag lines either side of the Pelican Crossing along High Street, and are asking for your help. Please can you, via www. cheshirewestandcheshter. gov.uk (insert “report parking issues into the Search box) submit requests for an Enforcement Officer to attend to a vehicle parked in an area where road markings or signs indicate a parking restriction. If a vehicle is parked such as to cause an obstruction, as sometimes happens on Park Road near the Health Centre where there are no road markings or signs, please contact Cheshire Police on the non-emergency helpline 101, to report the obstruction to the highway.

However, the Tarporley area only has a single Community First Responder who is trained by North West Ambulance Service to undertake life-saving intervention. Would you be interested in becoming a Community First Responder (CFR) and learn how to respond to a range of life threatening incidents? Full training will be given and you may well be able to help a relative, friend or someone who has just collapsed and is not breathing. If you would be interested, then please contact the Parish Clerk (Tel 01948 861035 or clerk@tarporley.org.uk) for further information and details of how to become involved. Outstanding large planning applications At the time of writing (early June) there is no further news about the applications for The Daffodil Field (for 28 dwellings) at Brickyard Farm (48 dwellings) and Arderne Home Farm (45 dwellings) . We have heard that the adjourned public inquiry about the 100 houses at land off Rode Street has been moved from June until later this year.

Morgan leads the charge of Tarporley handballers HANDBALLERS from Tarporley High School’s Sixth Form have been involved in some amazing achievements. Morgan Gillett has completed his first year playing for Warrington Wolves Handball Club and was part of the team that won both the England Handball Association (EHA) Cup and the Super-8 League (handball’s Premier League). Morgan has also been selected and played for the Great Britain Under-21s and is looking forward to representing England in the Under-19s team for the Cell-Cup International Handball Festival in Hungary. Next year, as Warrington Wolves are the winners of the Super-8, Morgan will also be playing against various top teams in continental Europe. This season Oliver Tyler has not only played for Deva HC in the national Men’s Championship League, but also captained Deva’s Under-18s team to win their age-group’s EHA Cup. He has also been selected for England Under-19s and will be playing in the Cell-Cup. Owen Tyrie, Eoin Stein and Callum Ridley were also part of the Deva Under-18s winning team and have all played in the Championship League this year, whilst former Sixth Form student Ben Tyler has just been selected for the newly reformed GB Men’s Team and is scheduled to play in Kosovo this summer. Since starting handball at Tarporley High School, under the guidance of coach Gary Kelsall and supported by Mr Morphet, ther handballers have gone from strength to strength. Triple success for skier Rhodri Having completed his 7th winter season ski training and racing at several national championships in Europe, 16-year-old Tarporley High School student Rhodri Gale is once again back at his home slope Chill Factore, Manchester for the summer season. After progressing into the U18 category, Rhodri bagged another podium placing, at the recent GBR Series Races

held at Chill Factore, adding to the 59 he has achieved to date. Additionally, he is very pleased to have been selected by Chill Factore for a 4th year’s sponsorship in recognition of his talent, potential and commitment to ski racing. Being able to train regularly at his home slope, with excellent coaching on hand, is invaluable to his development as a racer. Here, at the UK’s longest indoor ski slope, he is also encouraged to continue honing his snowboarding, moguls and skier cross skillset. Solid performances in last year’s races have secured Rhodri’s reselection to the Wales National Ski Race squad. As part of the development programme he regularly attends Welsh team training camps at Chill Factore receiving extra specialist coaching and he is looking forward to the annual race squad training week to be held at Landgraaf indoor ski slope in Holland in July.

Look up....

and use all the space in your home We would all like more space in our homes and with houses in the UK getting smaller, space is at a premium. But what if there was an affordable way to create more space in our homes? A simple solution for all those people fed up of living among clutter and one that doesn’t require planning permission or any major structural building work. For most, the loft is a dark and dingy place visited seasonally; once to dig out the Christmas decorations and then again to bring down the holiday suitcases. A precarious scramble across dusty beams, torch in hand; grabbing what’s needed then clambering back past boxes filled with long-forgotten belongings. But that dark and dingy place is worth thousands. In fact, it takes up a third of

the floor space in an average home. So shouldn’t you be making the most of it? And that’s where More Than Loft Ladders (MTLL) comes in. Founded in Bolton over five years ago, MTLL specialises in generating space by making the loft easily accessible. And that’s all it does. It’s not a generic building company, and it’s not jack-of-all-trades. MTLL only installs loft hatches, ladders, boarding, lighting and insulation. It’s what the company does all day, every day, using qualified local installers who are reliable, tidy and efficient. The latest MTLL franchisee to open covers Crewe and Chester and is run by skilled tradesman, Adam Shepherd...“Our average job is about

£290 and only takes a few hours to complete,” says Adam. “And for that, customers get a modern two section aluminium ladder 50sq ft of boarding and a light to make the space safe and secure.” The price customers are quoted is the price they will pay, with no additional call out or credit card charges. “More Than Loft Ladders is already a trusted name in the north west with over 2,500 successful installations, and I really wanted to bring it here to Cheshire...It’s such a great and cost effective way for people to gain the extra space they need,” added Adam. Tarporley family want lasting legacy for tragic son Richard Richard Pover was just 21 when he died of testicular cancer, following 19 months of gruelling hospital treatment. Now, two years after his death, his family want to raise money to set up an ever-lasting university scholarship in his memory. Richard was diagnosed during the 3rd year of a four year mechanical engineering degree at the University of Sheffield and tragically died two weeks before his 22nd birthday, on the day he would have left university had he completed his degree. He loved Sheffield, his course, the university and his friends and for this reason kept his treatment in Sheffield, where his friends and university life undoubtedly helped him to maintain his astonishingly positive outlook and determination to carry on as normal. It is because of Richard’s love of Sheffield and university life that his family want to create a lasting memorial to him, while helping others at the same time.

Richard’s mum Anne said: “We would like to create a permanent endowment that would be named the ‘Richard Pover Outstanding Contribution Award’ within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Sheffield. This would be an annual award to help the next generation of Sheffield engineers, open to all students within the department who have excelled in their extra-curricular activities and made an outstanding contribution, just as Richard did. We would ideally like the scholarship to be in the region of £1000 per year, but as the award is given from the interest on the lump sum, we need to raise around £30,000 at current interest rates.” Anne added: “We have been humbled by peoples’ generosity so far and have already reached the £10,000 mark, but there is still a long way to go and we will be organising a variety of fundraising events in the future. It is a wonderful way to remember Richard and in a place he loved.” Anne added: ‘People are often reduced to tears when they hear Richard’s story. An ‘out-of-order’ death like that of a son or daughter is one of the worst losses anyone can suffer, so we hope that the local community and businesses will support our efforts to keep Richard’s memory alive. It is lovely that so many people who have been involved in our life in Tarporley have chosen to help. It means a great deal to us.’ To donate, visit www.justgiving. com/rememberingrichardpover/ Left: The Pover family on Richard’s final holiday in 2013

How do you pay for your care and protect your capital? This is the final part of Time to Talk. So having had a family discussion about the issues and options, I hope you will agree that the best choice is being able to remain living in your own home. It’s a myth that the cost of care at home is more expensive than moving to a residential home. Whatever your financial situation, the following might be helpful: The dilemma: Deposit account - Causes erosion of capital Fixed term account - Lack of access Existing Investments - Are they suitable? Solutions • Equity Release enables a lump sum or a monthly amount to be paid into your bank account by releasing some of the capital in your house. It is also exempt from Inheritance Tax. • An Immediate Needs Annuity which is a single one off premium, purchases a Care Plan that will guarantee to pay your monthly shortfall free of tax for a person’s lifetime. This means that your remaining capital is protected. Typically, the return on capital from these schemes is between 18% and in excess of 30%. • It is always worth getting a Care Needs Assessment as the local authority may be able to make a contribution.

Lasting Power of Attorney Before you do anything please ensure you address this topic as it is of vital importance. It ensures that important decisions can be made on someone else’s behalf, should they be unable to do so for health reasons. Without such a document personal control of family finances can be lost and the Court of Protection becomes involved. We passionately believe that people wishing to remain living in their own homes for as long as possible, should be given all the choices and options as well as support, but you need to plan. Finding out what you may be entitled to can be complicated and confusing which is why we are an affiliate member of The Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA). As a not for profit organisation recognised by the government, they can provide the experts who are specifically trained in funding elderly care at home. If you would like to discuss the many options available, please contact us on 01829 260280 to make an appointment. Sarah Green – Director

Pupils Ellie Corlett-Moss, Alice Farnworth and Hannah Sinclair all submitted applications back in May this year and following a rigorous interview with a scrutiny of their portfolio all three girls were offered a place on the tour which takes place in October. Many pupils who attend the tour which has run since 1984 have used the opportunity as a spring board to gain places at Ruskin, Oxford and the Royal Academy, London.

It is not unusual for Neighbourhood Plans to attract this sort of response, particularly from housing developers, whose plans are often at odds with the plan policies. The Bunbury Neighbourhood Plan allows for small developments of up to 15 houses and we can expect it to be challenged by developers who wish to build larger numbers of houses.

The Neighbourhood Plan has recently come to the end of a six week period of consultation, during which organisations provided us with a written response.

In a recent planning appeal where Bloor Homes Ltd were appealing against the decision by Cheshire East, to refuse planning permission to build 34 houses on land off School Lane, Bunbury, the plan was used in evidence to support the Council’s case.

Some of the responses were supportive and suggested improvements while others were extremely disparaging.

All of the responses to the six week consultation process, together with feedback received from Bunbury residents, is being considered by the plan team, and this will shortly lead to some minor amendments. We will let residents know what these amendments are and publish an updated version on www. bunburynpg.org, prior to submitting it to the Parish Council for approval and finally in a formal submission to Cheshire East Council. Correction:- the press release of last of month should have said the public meeting was on 27th April, not 27th November – our apologies for this mistake.

WHICH NAIL VARNISH DOES THE QUEEN USE? By Angela Bartlett, owner Sensoria Beauty, Grooming & Wellbeing

Q. What is ‘collagen induction therapy’ and how can it benefit my skin? A. Collagen Induction Therapy is another term to describe ‘skin needling’ or ‘dermal rolling’. It creates ‘micro injuries’ in the skin which triggers the skin to repair itself by synthesising new collagen fibres to help restore a flawless, youthful complexion. It gives natural, long-lasting results and is extremely cost-effective compared to other skin rejuvenating treatments. There is minimum ‘downtime’ (maximum 48 hours) and no skin damage. Ask your therapist for a consultation or visit our website for further information www.sensoriabeauty.co.uk Q. Which nail varnish does the Queen use? A. Yes I was really asked this! The nail varnish of choice for the Royal Family is Essie and her majesty the Queen has used ‘Ballet Slippers’ (a pale, soft pink) for the past twenty five years. On her wedding day, Kate Middleton wore Essie’s ‘Allure’ (a natural, nude colour). The appearance of Allure for Kate’s Big Day, made it so popular that we were unable to order it into the salon for weeks and weeks following the royal wedding! Essie colours are unique and are a popular choice amongst celebs too, including Lady Gaga (Merino Cool), Christina Aguilera (Sexy Divide) and Kristen Stewart (Midnight Cami) to name but a few!

Hugo is Chester’s new Lord Mayor Local Kelsall and Tarvin councillor Hugo Deynem is the new Lord Mayor of Chester. Cllr Deynem, who lives in Ashton Hayes, works for an energy company as a Health and Safety Advisor, having previously run a number of small companies for himself for 16 years. He was first elected to represent the Kelsall ward on the former Chester City Council in 1993 and has served the Kelsall and Tarvin ward as a Councillor on Cheshire West and Chester Borough Council since its inception. He said: “I am extremely pleased and honoured to be taking on the historic and important role of Lord Mayor. “We are in the second year of the 100th commemoration of World War 1 and as we move through this civic year there will, rightly be, a focus on the key dates that resonate most clearly with us here in Chester and Cheshire, particularly those all so important dates that involved our brave soldiers from the Cheshire Regiment. Details for these events are being finalised. “Also over the next 12 months I want to engage closely with our vibrant tourist economy, including the city centre hoteliers, guest house proprietors and key visitor attractions to raise the profile of, and engagement with, the civic team and the heads for mutual benefit and also to assist in my fundraising objectives.” Cllr Deynem has chosen to support three charities during the year: OPAL (Older People Active Lives), Cancer Research and The Wildlife Habitats Trust.

He added: “I will be hosting a number of fundraising events planned throughout the year to support my chosen charities and would be pleased if you are able to support me and them at one or more of these events. I do hope to see you at either some of them, or one of the many engagements we will be attending. “If you are not able to, we will also be holding open days at the Town Hall and you would be more than welcome to come along, have a cup of tea and spend some time visiting the Lord Mayor’s Parlour.” Cllr Deynem is married to Deb and has three children.

Hayley’s health and fitness

Health and Fitness blog

Summer is coming... are you bikini ready? It’s the time of year we either love or loathe. If you have been good and working hard for the summer months you will be proud to show off your new body, if however you have left it too late you’ll be happy to stay in your jeans and jumper for a little longer. So are there any quick fixes if your August holiday is approaching and what can you do to get results FAST! 1. Cut the carbs! Most people start the day off with toast or cereal (carbs) fruits for a snack (carbs) sandwich and crisps (carbs) pasta or meat, potatoes and veg (carbs) as you can see the common theme is Carbs and although I wouldn’t advise anyone to cut carbs out completely but if they aren’t being used up on a daily basis this WILL turn to fat! Stick to higher protein foods throughout the day they keep you fuller for longer, will help prevent muscle wastage and when you’re working out will help create muscle tone!

2. Get active and commit to something, if you have 6 weeks before your hols this is the time you get to get moving and the intensity has to be high. Providing you have relatively good fitness and you aren’t too over weight it’s time to hit it hard! Jogging for an hour will burn calories but you will get more done in a shorter

amount of time with a high energy class! Aim to work out 5 times a week and make sure you are sweating/ heart rate is high and you are truly fatigued.

3. Drink plenty of water! Flush out all your toxins and get your skin glowing. This alone will help you lose weight, 3 litres a day if you’re getting active. 4. Cut the sugar, sugars may taste good, but they really aren’t doing anything for your waist line. Just cutting sugars out in your tea/ coffee can save you loads of added calories. Watch out for sugars in concentrated orange juice/ fruit juices/ sparkling water and certain high sugar fruits like pineapple/ grapes/ tangerines and tomato soups/ sauces.

5. Make sure you are sleeping enough. Sleep is when your body recovers and is when you get your results! If you aren’t getting your 7 hours, you run the risk of becoming fatigued in the day, meaning you crave sugary/ high carb foods to try and keep your energy levels up. Get to bed earlier and avoid teas/ coffees/ sugary drinks before bed. Basic info above but effective if followed! Find me on facebook for fitness classes and speak to me for more advice and keep fit options.

Big fire in Tattenhall A semi-detached house in Keysbrook, Tattenhall, was heavily involved in a fire in early June. Four fire engines and an aerial appliance attended the incident. The fire involved the roof space of the property and firefighters, six wearing breathing apparatus, used two main and one hose reel jet to tackle the blaze. Gas and electricity supplies to the affected property and the adjoining one were isolated, and the next door property was thoroughly checked by crews to make sure there was no spread of fire. The fire is believed to have started in a rear bedroom. Firefighters remained at the scene damping down using a hose reel jet.

Gardening by Janet Heath

High Summer in JulY July is a month when the classic English herbaceous border is seen at its best. The gardens mentioned below have lovely borders and will give you ideas of plants to grow in your own garden. I love the herbaceous borders filled with perennials that pop up year after year. Agapanthus with its large heads of deep blue or white flowers and green strap like leaves it is an architectural plant for a hot sunny border and grows best in well drained soil and moisture at the roots. Another good plant for a sunny site is Lychnis coronaria also known as Bridget–in–herbravery according to the RHS website. If you have a sandy well drained soil in baking sun then this will be an asset to any border. It has grey/silvery soft leaves with magenta pink or white flowers. It does not last long but it will seed happily.

Lavenders are also a lovely small shrub for a sunny border. If you want the classic lavender scent then go for English Lavender Lavendula angustifolia. With many different varieties of English Lavender to choose from (over 250 apparently) there will be one for a pot or a gravelly soil and baking hot sunny border. Compact varieties like Hidcote or Munstead are better for smaller areas. In July cut back flowering shrubs such as Lilac, Weigela, Cistus and Philadelphus, just after they finish flowering, if you want to reduce them in size. Cut off dead flowers from Roses, Penstemons, Delphiniums, Centaurea, Nepeta and Lupins and you may well get a second flush of flowers in late summer – always a bonus! Dead heading annuals in pots will keep them flowering and do remember to keep pots well

watered in dry weather. Sow salad seeds of radishes, rocket, lambs lettuce and lettuce for autumn cropping. l If you would like to visit gardens for ideas and a lovely afternoon tea, I suggest you look out for gardens open under the National Gardens Scheme where all proceeds go to charities including Marie Cure Cancer Care and Macmillan Cancer Support. In Chester, on 4th and 5th July, 150 Barrell Well Hill gardens are open. On a series of terraces going down to the River Dee you can see perennials and shrubs for sun, a stream and bog garden. The Rowans at Threapwood near Malpas is open on 11th and 12th July has an Italianate theme. With formal and natural areas including ponds it is a fascinating garden to visit.

The run up to the General Election, and subsequent result certainly threw up a few surprises and I guess we will just have to wait and see which manifesto promises will be honoured and which will quietly disappear without trace. It has got me thinking though about promises we make to ourselves about getting our own financial house in order. It’s very easy to react to a certain situation, in fact that’s often the way people manage their finances, something unforeseen crops up, for better or worse, and we react! Then, we go back to drifting again whilst at the same time promising ourselves that this time we will stay on top of things and we will be able to retire earlier than the ever increasing state retirement age, or the scare you had because your best friend has been diagnosed with cancer fades with time and after all, it really, really, won’t happen to me will it! Like the manifesto promises, some of them are kept but many quietly disappear.

out election campaign, I will show you what you need to do to get there, although if you’re already 60 and looking at an empty pension pot, the best politician in the world can’t promise to deliver on that one I’m afraid. If trying to reduce the amount of tax you pay is at the top of your electoral promise list, then let’s talk about what you can do, legally of course, to do so, and if you have young children or dependants who would suffer financially if you lost your seat due to ill health or worse, let’s not leave it to chance that the vote will go the right way.

I think I’m very lucky to be able to do the job I do. I get to meet some really interesting people, and get to know them, and often their families, really well. Only last week one of my clients told me that in the event of anything happening to them, they have told their children that I should be one of the first people they speak to, in order to find out where everything is and what to do. Believe me, there are many “job titles” which could be attributed to me and my role as a Chartered Financial Planner, Social Worker, Councillor, Estate Agent, to name a few, one client even rang to ask if in my opinion, she should replace her central heating boiler! As far as I know have never been CORGI qualified, and probably never will be!

Choosing who and where to take financial planning advice from is never easy, particularly at a time when many of the traditional sources are no longer available, who remembers the weekly Insurance Premium Collectors, and it won’t be too long before we are saying, who remembers when you could walk into a bank and ask to see a Financial Adviser, most have already disappeared. When you vote for a politician, it may be because you agree with his or her policies, it may be because you like the look of them, it may even be because you believe them! Your financial adviser however should be with you for the long haul, have your interests at heart, and not be put up for constant re-election.

What I do best though is encourage people to think through their own manifesto and then help them make sure the pledges and promises aren’t swept under the carpet, never to be seen again. So if you are serious about retiring at 60, like a well thought

Glitz and glamour as Grange students bid farewell Hartford’s Grange School said goodbye to their class of 2015 during a glamorous event at Macdonald Portal Hotel in late May. Dinner jackets and ball gowns were the order of the day as the departing students, along with senior staff from the school, took the opportunity to celebrate and look back on their time at the school and their many wonderful achievements and experiences. It was also a chance for these young people to look forward to the exciting future which now awaits, with most already in possession of offers to continue their studies at the country’s top universities, whilst others look forward to exploring exciting horizons elsewhere. Home Fires set for return series ITV’s World War Two drama series Home Fires, which is filmed in Bunbury and Tattenhall, will return for a second series. The show, which centres around a group of women bringing their village together, has been a ratings success for ITV1 on Sunday nights. Eagle eyed viewers can see the likes of the Nags Head pub and St Boniface Church in the location scenes.

Standing room only at Decibellas Women’s Choir of Tarporley recently hosted a concert with Llangollen Male Voice Choir, to raise funds for St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice. Both choirs performedpieces from their own repertoires and then joining together for a rousing finale! The concert was held in the beautiful St Boniface Church, in Bunbury, which, by 7:20pm had standing room only, with guests still arriving. In fact, there had been groups of tourists visiting the village earlier in the day who, having heard the choirs rehearsing, returned to enjoy the evening performance; truly friendship through song! The evening began with both choirs and the audience singing Jerusalem. Cor Meibion Llangollen then performed a

mix of traditional Welsh hymns including Calon Lan and Llanfair, as well as more contemporary pieces such as The Rose and Bring Him Home from the musical Les Miserables. Decibellas repertoire took the audience on a tour of the British Isles, from Scotland with pieces including Chilcott’s The Skye Boat Song, via Yorkshire with Scarborough Fair to Medieval England with another Chilcott arrangement this time of an Old English poem, The Lily & The Rose. Both choirs joined together to perform Steal Away, a spiritual, followed by the traditional Welsh folk piece, Ash Grove. Finally the audience and both choirs raised the roof, in a rousing rendition of Cwm Rhondda. The High Sheriff of Cheshire, Bill Holroyd was a guest for the evening, as well as

at Decibellas’ concert representatives from St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice who joined the choirs and audience for a drinks reception in the venue after the concert. Decibellas Chair Hazel Rowlands said: “It was a hugely successful evening, raising over £1,900 for St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice who require £7500 per day to be able to offer their services free of charge to members of the local community. We’d like to thank the gentlemen of Cor Meibion Llangollen for crossing the border to join us as well as everyone who turned out in such huge numbers to support the event.”
